THE LAMBEAU FIELD SOLUTION

They say that someday (probably within 10 to 20 years) Lambeau Field
will need to be replaced with a new stadium. A new stadium is
inevitable. But it would be a shame to abandon/destroy Legendary
Lambeau Field. But there is a way to build a brand new stadium AND keep
Lambeau Field as Home of the Green Bay Packers--FOREVER! (Or at least
until the big comet/meteor hits Earth.) Here is my solution...

When it comes time to build a new stadium for the Packers, tear
down the stadium surrounding Lambeau Field. (NOTE: Only the stadium
is torn down, NOT the field!) Recycle as much of the old stadium's
steel as possible by melting it down, and use it to fabricate new
steel beams, which would be used in the Packers' new stadium. Thus,
a significant amount of the old stadium would be contained in the
new stadium. There's more...

While the stadium surrounding Lambeau Field is being torn down, and
while the new stadium is being built, the Packers could play their
home games at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison. (Real grass would
be put in for the Packers temporary stay in Madison.) The Packers
would play two or three seasons in Madison, while construction of the
new stadium takes place.

The new stadium would be built on the SAME GROUND as the current
stadium. The new playing field would be in THE IDENTICAL LOCATION
as the current playing field. Note, Lambeau FIELD refers to the
playing FIELD (not the actual stadium). Since the location of the
new playing FIELD would be in the same location as the current
playing FIELD, Lambeau FIELD would remain Lambeau FIELD, even though
the surrounding stadium would be brand new. Thus, even with a brand
new stadium, Lambeau Field would live on!

A new stadium should also be built in the Green Bay Packer tradition...
No double-deck stadium! Just a large open bowl, like it is now. No
dome or partial roof over the bleachers. Yes, BLEACHERS! No comfy
chairs with arm rests! Bleachers allow more seats per unit area.
Thus, it would be possible to build a 75,000-seat stadium and keep
much of the crowd close to the field, as it is now. The Packers sell
out every game anyway, so there's no reason to splurge on luxury
seats in order to attract fans. There would also be luxury boxes
surrounding the entire field, as it is now. The look of the stadium
from the inside would change very little.

This is possible. A brand new stadium called Lambeau Field without
ever leaving Lambeau Field. The past preserved, the future ensured.
