For some reason, we haven't discussed it much, but in a year without any
"sure bet" HOF candidates, Wolf's credentials look as good as, or better
than, almost anyone's.

A LONG time ago, his drafts helped a fledgling TB team make the playoffs,
and they had the only winning records until Tony Dungy came along much
later.

We all know he resurrected the franchise. But the way he did it greatly
impacted the game itself. He traded for Favre, of course, but picking
up Reggie White changed how the NFL (and fans) viewed free agency. It
gave the Packers instant credibility in the FA market, and suddenly all
the high $$ franchises started spending on high-profile players (and
franchises learned to lock up their great players before they hit the
market.)

His "tree" includeds Mike Holmgren, who helped build Seattle into a
contender, and Thompson, who came back and re-furbished the team, after
Sherman ran the team into cap/talent trouble.

So that's a major impact on 3 different, winning, franchises. Hard to
keep him out, IMO.

Why? They are all around the same age anyway.

92-52 record over nine years and a .639 winning percentage, second only to
the 49ers during that span. In the playoffs six straight times and 1-1 in
the big game.

That's why.

I'd say Wolf's impact on the game exceeds any of them.
