Larry Lacewell, the Cowboys’ longtime director
of college and pro scouting, died Wednesday,
the team announced. He was 85.

Lacewell started with the Cowboys in 1992,
serving as the director of college scouting. In
1994, he was named director of college and
pro scouting, a position he held until 2005.

He was instrumental in helping the Cowboys
build the Team of the 1990s, with Dallas win-
ning three Super Bowls.

Lacewell played football at Arkansas State
and began a coaching career after his playing
career ended. His 32-year coaching career was
highlighted by two national championships as
an assistant at Oklahoma and a decade as the
head coach at his alma mater.

He also served as Arkansas State’s athletic
director from 1979-90.

Lacewell is in Arkansas State’s ring of honor, as
well as the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame.

Tony Romo is 6' 2"
Jerry Jones is 6' 4"
Larry Lacewell, I haven't found his height
mentioned but from those 2 photos I'd
guess he's within 10 to 12 inches of the
height of Tony Romo & Jerry Jones. Of
course, difficult to guess one's height
from a photo.

Example: Jerry looks shorter than CeeDee
Lamb in following photo but CeeDee is
6'2", 2 inches shorter than Jerry Jones:

Having never been near 6' tall, I typically
say I"m 5' 7" (the same height as Jimmy
Johnson) but my barefoot height is 66.25
inches (5' 6.25"), so I'm hedging my height
up a bit. After all, in shoes, I'm taller and I
rarely am barefoot outside my apartment.

Follow-up:

The recent controversy of Jerry Jones re-
ferring to Larry Lacewell with the "midget"
word was a statement Jerry Jones apolo-
gized for in the following article:
https://thehill.com/changing-america/respect/equality/3576311-dallas-cowboys-owner-jerry-jones-apologizes-for-offensive-reference-to-little-people/

Watched season 4 episode 18 of the TV
show Ally McBeal tonight & the word "mid-
get" was used 6 times, the word "dwarf"
was used 1 time, & the phrase "little person"
was used 4 times:
https://subslikescript.com/series/Ally_McBeal-118254/season-4/episode-18-The_Obstacle_Course

Per the following article, Little People of
America stated that over 90% of little peo-
ple objected to use of the word "midget"
in 2015:
https://www.lpaonline.org/the-m-word

Season 4 Episode 18 of Ally McBeal was
produced April 16 2001, & it doesn't ap-
pear that the word "midget" was consid-
ered derogatory or pejorative at that time.

The little person part of that episode was
about a female corresponding with a male
via email / phone calls but not discovering
that the male was a little person (i.e., under
4'10") until meeting him in person, resulting
in her suing him for his failure to inform ...

... her he was a little person (i.e., her falling
in love, quitting her job, & moving to Boston
without him giving her any hint that he was
a little person).
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Midget

By the way, Ally McBeal, a lot of the show
isn't my cup of tea, & something that fills
most shows, the songs, most of them are
not in my wheelhouse. Black guys hitting
on white women, they've had that as a main
theme twice, this season having Ally & her ...

... work partner lusting after a new black
lawyer, that lawyer lusting after an Asian
white-looking woman, conveying he had
slept with her, now trying to win her back,
& also chasing Ally's black roommate.

Seems they think that black lawyer is all
about having sex or vice versa with every
woman on the show (other than Portia de
Rossi). Anyway, this season, Anne Heche
was on the show (she died in a tragic traf-
fic accident recently, having slipped into ...

... a coma & later having her life support
disconnected) & Portia de Rossi later end-
ed up hooking up with Ellen Degeneres
(Anne Heche's ex partner). Also this sea-
son, Robert Downey Jr's character was a
love interest of Ally McBeal but during ...

... the season he was fired for drug prob-
lems.

Larry Lacewell, by the way, he was not in
the dwarf category, & hard to say what his
height was, but I'd guess it was 5'2" to 5'6",
but that's just a wild guess.
