Tim Couch has been handed back his starting job - at least
for one week. Couch, demoted to a backup role after four seasons
as Cleveland's No. 1 quarterback, will start Sunday against the
Cincinnati Bengals, replacing the injured Kelly Holcomb.

"It's exciting," Couch said after practice Thursday. "I'm
looking forward to a chance to get back out there and play again.
Hopefully, everything goes well and we get a victory."

Sure, got to pull for the Browns first and foremost...

I think we all have our preference at QB, but Butch Davis has
chosen Holcomb and he'll be the Browns man once again as soon as
he recovers. Tim can help the Browns and increase his trade value
at the same time with nice back-up work.

A win-win for all, I say...

Yea I agree Ky58...Unfortunately unless something drastically different
happens, I can't see Couch being a Cleveland Brown next year.
I've got a good friend that lives in Dallas, and there is quite a bit
of talk about him circulating in the talk shows etc..Word is..Parcells
would be very interested in Couch..but who knows, you know how rumors
fly...

I honestly think that the Browns will have their best offensive game
yet. Tim sounds pumped and I think he will fire the team up. It's just
gonna tick me off more if the Browns put up 20-30 points..and Davis sits
him on the bench again the following week.

In any case, the Browns need a victory. I say they get it.

It wouldn't surprise me to see the same old shit for most of the game that
we saw in the first three games. It's not the QB it's the system. It's the
coaches (most notably Bruce A.) and their inability to adjust to what the
defense on the other side is giving them. I don't think it matters who
starts at QB, but you can bet that you will see a couple of series during
the game that resemble this:

1st down: Green sweeps right 2 yards.
2nd down: Holding call, then incomplete pass
3rd down: Completed pass to KJ for 8 yards
4th down: Punt

Next possesion

1st down: Green off tackle for 3 yards
2nd down: Incomplete pass to QuincyM.
3rd down: False start penalty then completion to Andre Davis for 11 yards
4th down: Punt

Feel free to C&P this for the second and third quarters. In the 4th quarter
the Browns will be forced to pass on every down.

I hope I'm wrong about all this, but that is the way it looks to me.

gee. I thought we all had this nailed. 1st and 2nd downs are Green off
tackle. It's the 3rd and 10 that presents any semblance of a challenge. I
say its a dump to White.

on the 2nd series is where you get the dink to KJ.

oh, and in case Dr. Arians is listening: no, I didnt pilfer your game plan.
I got all this from the 49ers...who got it from the Ravens...who got it from
the Colts...<snip>....stone tablets....

Well, I'm hearing the same thing and it would be a plus for the
Browns because they could unload that high price tag. He's got to
perform well in the short amount of time that he has before Holcomb
comes back. If not, then Dallas isn't going to be as interested
as they might be at this juncture. We'll see what happens...

Well, I'd love to see Tim help the Browns this week, but the
system (and the 'lookout' blocks by some of the O-Line) just isn't
conducive to a lot of offensive success, IMHO. Tim and Kelly
can't perform miracles...

I got a bad feeling...

Bengals 17
Browns 14

But I certainly hope you're right, Prime...

This is the right attitude. As I mentioned, both QBs will see significant
playing time this year.
