I'm reading through some interesting posts from some very pissed-off Browns
fans, and one of them (buckeye-ELO) suggested Ozzie Newsome as a GM.
Apparently Ozzie's contract with the CRavens is about up. Others have
suggested Bernie Kosar in some kind of front office or coaching position. I
don't have any idea if Bernie is interested, but I really like the Ozzie
idea. What if Ozzie were brought in and Butch was told to deal with it or
leave? ;-)

Also, isn't Brian Sipe coaching in California? There's another idea. Now,
I don't think Sipe or Kosar should be the head coach (unless one of them has
been an assistant or coordinator somewhere and I haven't heard about it, a
distinct possibility), but bringing one or both back to the fold would be
great. Randy Lerner has shown a desire to link with this team's past (see
Jim Brown) and one (or more) of these moves would definitely go in that
direction.

If he is its a little league team or something in San Diego. He is an
architect as I recall and has his own business designing buildings and
homes, etc. I doubt he would be interested in giving up that to work for
the Browns. Besides, he hasn't shown up for many of the various alumni
events in recent years that I have heard anything about. I think maybe
Jerry Sherk, who is one of his best friends might have shown up more than
he has, and I don't think Jerry has shown up for that many.

Paul Warfield already works for the Browns. He worked for the Cowboys in
recent years in the front office as a consultant. From what I read awhile
back when he (Warfield) interviewed with Miami for the job Dan Marino got
then quit, he had recommended a couple of players to the Cowboys in that
position as concultant, who has done a real nice job for the Cowboys in
recent years.

So he was either lucky or has some ability to evaluate talent.

So Ozzie as GM and Warfield as director of college scouting, something like
that? That works for me. And again, if Butch doesn't like it, I hear that
Miami-Dade CC is hiring.

Ozzie is intensely loyal to Art and the Modell family. I know they aren't
involved with the Cravens anymore for all intents & purposes, but there's
too much bad history. Ain't gonna happen....

Has Warfield ever done scouting?

Does Sipe's kid attend that school?

No clue to be honest. Just knew he was coaching there because they have
profiled him here locally in the paper in the past.

I'm not ripping you here but - BUT hehe, why because Baltimore has had
success on defense, all of a sudden any former Browns player is going to
step into what is probably the most important job in football and save the
world?

Why not? And I don't take that as a rip, but a legitimate question.

I don't know man. I'm not saying it couldn't be a succesful move. I'd just
rather the next group of folks come in here have some kind of prior success
in this league. I'd feel alot better about it then to just throw some old
Browns player in there.

It just seems to me that alot of Browns fans look at what Ozzie did in
B-more and think that can happen just as easily here.

I don't think it would be easy, but there is proven success there in B-more
(as much as I hate to admit that). Ozzie is at least partly responsible for
that success.

From what I've read, however, he is completely loyal to Art and would never
leave.

I still don't understand why Kosar has never been considered for a FO
job on this team. Seems to me if Ozzie figured it out, Bernie could
too. I know one thing, Bernie and Butch would be like trying to mix
oil and water.

We HAVE to start over again.

Ya' think? I thought Bernie would mix well with Davis and Campo. The
Miami - Dallas stuff is a pretty common thread among them. I don't know, if
Butch can mix with anyone.

I don't care what title they give Kosar. I would just like to see someone
vaguely familiar with football, and an interest in Cleveland, giving advice
to Lerner.

Why? Because Bernie had a Texas cup of coffee and got a ring? Or is there
more to the two step?

I wish we had nothing. We still have BD with another draft on the horizon
dude. Wipe the slate and start over..he's doomed.

He's gone. But who in the Cleveland Browns organization knows anything
about football? You got an owner who doesn't know dick. And a guy who used
to handle half-time shows. Those aren't the people I want selecting a GM
and HC.

We are sort of fucked right now, headed for totally fucked.

Nah, Randy isn't stupid. Fool me once is what he's thinking right now, and
he's over his Dad's ties to this team. He'll move on in a positive
direction I'm sure and hopefully it won't be -anyone- from this regime.

Don't be surprised if Paul Warfield is considered for GM, if they can't
get Phil Savage from Baltimore.
