Hear them Bengals growling,
mean and angry.
Here they come a prowling,
lean and hungry.
An offensive brute,
run, pass or boot.
And defensively,
they're rough, tough.
Cincinnati Bengals,
that's the team we're gonna cheer to victory.
Touchdown Bengals,
put some points up on the board,
and win this game for Cincinnati.
WHO DEY?
Oh come on......that is the LAMEST fight songs....whenever I here
it...I think of little kittens playing......Why not a new song....(even
'Welcome to the Jungle' would be a huge improvement)...I heard rumors of
a new one....

That song is a classic. It may be silly, but it was all ours, an
original. I thought it's fun to sing that song!

I was going to reply nastily to this reply.....but for someone stuck in
the past it'd be a waste...
PS - You just said it was 'Silly'....hence my point....it is time for a
change which will hopefully come the all the other changes....what's
wrong with IMPROVEMENT.
Mr. Utley, I agree with you whole-heartedly. I don't know why Mike Martin
feels he is so great that he can come up with a new cheesy-disco fight
song every year, but I say shut Martin's sorry ass up and keep the old
song!!
And Welcome To The Jungle (the redneck version of the Bengals' fight song)
is just about old.

I agree too... bring back the old fight song! Can someone tell me what the
words were that were tacked on the end of that... you know... the ones that
ended "Who Dey, Who Dey, Who Dey!!!"

The correct lyrics for the entire Who Dey Song are:
From the banks of the Ohio comes that orange and black machine.
They're the Cincinnati Bengals, the finest ever seen.
With stripes upon their helmets, and fire in their eyes,
They take the field and will not yield, they're strong and tough and
wise.
Who dey? Who dey? Who dey think gonna' beat them Bengals?!
Who dey? Who dey? Who dey think gonna' beat them Bengals?!
When the Bengals are on offense, there's no team that's so much fun,
They throw the ball and make them fall when they decide to run.
They pass and catch and move and block, what power they have stored.
They drive and drive and give hive fives as points go on the board.
Who dey? Who dey? Who dey think gonna' beat them Bengals?!
Who dey? Who dey? Who dey think gonna' beat them Bengals?!
When the Bengals are on defense, there's no team they cannot stop.
They find their foe and as we know, they hit and stick and pop.
They stop them when they run the ball, give nothing through the air,
Yet those who play have come to say of the Bengals TB wear.
Who dey? Who dey? Who dey think gonna' beat them Bengals?!
Who dey? Who dey? Who dey think gonna' beat them Bengals?!
.......[I can't remember this line]
They work and run but then have fun when they show up to play.
The other team can't slow them down, the title is their goal.
Game after game, they'll build their fame and win that Super Bowl.
Who dey? Who dey? Who dey think gonna' beat them Bengals?!
Who dey? Who dey? Who dey think gonna' beat them Bengals?!

David:
While these lyrics are quite "eloquent", I have to admit that I have
**NEVER** heard anything that even REMOTELY resembles this 'fight
song'. If these INDEED are the lyrics of the "Who Dey Song", then why
hasn't it ever (to my knowledge) been played at Riverfront? Why,
instead, have we heard:
We've got a team right here in town,
Ain't gonna ever let us down,
Who Dey! Who Dey!
Who dey think gonna beat them Bengals?!
Where did you get your lyrics? I'd be curious to know their origin, and
why the Bengals went with the more rousing Riverfront-version.

This song was written and distributed via 45 rpm records during the 1981
season. It was also broadcast on local radio stations. I cannot recall
the performer but it was a local songwriter. I still have the 45 stored
away; I'll pull it out and see if I can find out who the performer was.
Hope this helps,

Anybody remember the version that the Bengals players recorded during their
last super bowl run?
Anyone remember the lyrics? It was more of a rap/R&B version. They played
it on the radio a lot that year.

You're talking about the "Who Dey Rap", which was recorded right at the
end of the season, before the playoffs had begun. Yes, I have a copy of
the "video". WKRC (TV-12) was doing a season recap called "Run Through
The Jungle", which was recorded and aired the week prior to the AFC
Title game. At the end, they showed the video, although WKRC cut it off
at the very end to run a McAlpin's ad.
It started with the entire gang doing the chorus, then it got into the
verses. Each verse was sung by two different players...one got the
first two lines, one got the last two lines. There were two verses,
then a verse by Mike Martin (turned professional singer after football),
followed by the chorus.
Off the top of my head, I can only remember a few lines. I'll pull the
tape and transcribe it this weekend. Here's what I can remember....
Chorus:
Who Dey? Who Dey? Who Dey?
Who dey think dey gonna beat dem Bengals?
Where d'they play? In the Jungle!
Afraid of nooooooo-body!!
(Reggie Williams)
In the first quarter, up twenty eight
The crowd is rocking, the Jungle shakes
(Soloman Wilcots?)
We're moving down the field, running up the score,
We're on our way to the Super Bowl!
(Mike Martin)
So get off your feet, this ain't no time to be sitting around,
Let's make some noise, and bring this Jungle to the ground.
That's all I can remember right now. If anyone wants a copy of this,
drop me a private e-mail (KenBuzz "at" aol "dot" com) and we'll work out
the details. I figure $3 for postage and $2 for the tape out to do it,
but it's only about 2 minutes long, so there will be a lot of wasted
tape. Does anyone have a source for cheap "short" tapes?
