Ranking the Top 10 NFL Quarterbacks at the end of the 2021 season
The Top 10!

A changing of the guard is taking place in the NFL when it comes to the
quarterback position as Tom Brady has retired, Drew Brees left last
year, and who knows what will happen with Aaron Rodgers. With all of
that in mind, let’s look at the top ten quarterbacks as of right now in
the NFL.

Top 10

10) Kirk Cousins, Minnesota Vikings
Cousins is consistently streaky. He’s either great or terrible, and this
season was no different. For a portion of the season, he played like a
top 5 quarterback and for the rest of the season, he was all over the
place. Number ten for a season is as good as Cousins will ever get. He
is destined every season to rank between 10 and 15.

9) Russell Wilson, Seattle Seahawks
I don’t know if Wilson will be a Seahawk when the season starts, but if
he’s healthy for the entire year, the team he is on will be a playoff
contender. Wilson is now past 30 years old, but he still has IT and
don’t be surprised if he has a big season in the upcoming season.

8) Derek Carr, Las Vegas Raiders
Carr is big-time underrated, and he proved it again this season as he
put an average Raiders team on his back and carried them to the
playoffs. Carr has always been a good quarterback in a bad situation,
and as long as he is a Raider, that will probably not change.

7) Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys
Prescott’s numbers didn’t change that drastically after the calf injury
in Week 6, but his accuracy, rhythm and decision-making went from
MVP-level to erratic within games. By the end of the season, he was back
to form and playing well. Considering he was returning from a
devastating injury last season, I think Prescott was impressive this
past season. It’s a dam shame he never has a head coach on his level.

6) Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams
It is said that Stafford is a turnover machine, and he was over the last
three games of the regular season. Then he beat the Cardinals, ended
Brady’s career, led a ten-point 4th quarter comeback in the NFC
Championship game and finished it off with a last-minute game-winning
drive in the Super Bowl. Not a bad season!

5) Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers
Herbert’s improvement in finding the third and fourth read in his
progression has vaulted him into the top 5 rankings. The Chargers didn’t
make the playoffs, but that was not Herbert’s fault. His ability to
complete passes in small windows was off the charts by the end of this
past season.

4) Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers
Will Rodgers play on a different team in 2022? Will he retire, or will
he return to Green Bay? Your guess is as good as mine, but no matter
what that answer is if he plays, he’s still in the top 5. Rodgers was
fantastic in the regular season and dropped off big time in the
playoffs, which has become par for the course over the last decade of
his career.

3) Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs
Mahomes had to learn to play with more patience because of how teams
defended him, and he still played at a high level. That level was not as
high as the last few years as teams understand a little more how to
defend Mahomes. Next year will be huge for Mahomes and the Chiefs as
they seem to be slowly regressing over the last two years. The change in
offensive coordinators could be huge for Mahomes.

2) Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills
This year, Allen may not have been an MVP candidate, but he solidified
that the 2020 season was not a fluke. A sluggish start to the season
hurt him, and they lost to the Chiefs in the divisional playoffs, but
that playoff loss showed the greatness of Allen. The Bills defense let
Allen down against the Chiefs, but Allen and the Bills should only get
better from here.

1) Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals
I know I will catch hell from people for this pick, but Burrow is a
generational talent. His field vision, pocket presence, and ability to
extend plays are without question. The scary thing about Burrow is that
he hasn’t even had a regular preseason to prepare for a season. The
simple fact is that Burrow has changed an entire organisation’s culture,
and he was coming off an ACL tear while doing it. Burrow zips the ball
into tight windows that most quarterbacks don’t even see. Burrow’s
understanding of how defenses were attacking him locked in around
Thanksgiving and made him a top-5 quarterback, his performance during
the playoffs puts him at the top of this list.
