Big 12 Rankings - Post Nov 7th

pretty darn wacky, and in some ways SUCKS. The standings are upside down and
teams that we expected to be good this year are just laying eggs. And to be
honest, you get outside the top 2-3, it REALLY drops off.
Here are my standings:
1. Texas - They didn't have a conference game, but they have completely
dominated this conference. At this point Texas is truly on the cusp of claiming
the South division. The magic number is still 2, but that is very clear now:
Texas wins + oSu losses. It is pretty funny, most fans would tell you that
Texas had a "bad" game, yet the won by 32, amassed 537 yard offense, had Shipley
set the single game receiving record and almost had Colt set the single game
passing record.
2. oSu - These guys are still flying under the radar. Hell, I had to check to
make sure they had a game this weekend (yes, they blew out ISU). These guys are
getting ZERO respect, and in many ways that is a big shame. It took OUsucks
FOUR (1-2-3-4) losses to FINALLY be knocked out of the top 25, even hanging on
with a 3-3 record. tOSU and USC have both dropped games to 6-LOSS teams
(Arizona too). oSu on the other hand has only dropped 2 games, to two teams
with 1 loss COMBINED. Yet even the computers hate them. Still clearly are the
#2 team in the conference. They have a test this Saturday against Tech and
Bedlam in 2 weeks.
3. Nebraska - While I don't think anyone will mistake this Nebraska team of the
teams of the past. And this defense is certainly no Black Shirts. But their
win against OUsucks could be the win that could be the corner. They may not be
"BACK" but this team is done with the Callahan era officially with this win. And
this win put UNL in the driver seat for the North. It seems that the North will
be decided on Nov 21 in Lincoln. HOWEVER, UNL still has tough road games at KU
and CU to book end that game. Right now my pick to win the North.
4. KSU - It is official. Bill Snyder is a WITCH. How do you explain him taking
this lack of talent team and putting them in position to win the North? This is
a team that many would have wondered if they would win 3 games all year and they
are at the 4 win mark and like UNL control their destiny in the North. I don't
like them to win in Lincoln, but if they finished at 7-5 and 2nd in the North,
you would have to give Snyder Big 12 COtY.
5. Texas Tech - These guys are probably not THIS good, but they didn't lose, so
they get a boost. Like I said last week, IMHO these guys have found their 8-win
season comfort zone again. And with a bowl win, that would be 9-4 would be a
respectable year (but proof that last year was the aberration).
6. OU - I don't want to rank these guys here, but they are the best remaining
team. Their offensive ineptitude shown last week is proof that these guys are
in store for 2005 again OR WORSE. A&M could be lose-able (good-Ag or bad-Ag),
@Tech you have to chalk up as a loss (Leach vs THAT secondary). Leaving you
with Bedlam. The only thing that goes in their favor there, it is in Norman,
and they have lost those games too.
7. CU - Proof of how fucked up the bottom of the conference is. You can have a
team legitimately go from 11th to 7 with a win. 2 conference wins isn't great,
but it does put them ahead of a lot of other teams.
8. Texas A&M - Here is your clunker. And to be honest, you can't be sure that
the Baylor game is a gimmie either. These guys are Jekle and Hyde to the max.
If they were Hyde all year long, I venture to say they would be 7-2 right now.
This loss negates what they go by upsetting Tech. And they are pushing .500,
with that Baylor game being VERY interesting.
9. ISU - They haven't been able to follow up that Nebraska upset with much.
10. Baylor - Beating Mizzou in Columbia doesn't mean what it did the last two
years, but they did it and should be proud. Their loss to ISU is KILLING them
and they need the A&M game plus a big upset of Tech to get Bowl eligible.
12. Missouri and KU - really guys? I bet you fuckers can't wait for basketball
season to start. You came into the season as the favorites to contend for the
North. You were both fringe top 25, and worked your way up. We were supposed
to be treated to a KC Masterpiece that was going to decide the North and mark
that team as the one that has arrive. Instead what the hell did we get?
Mizzou opened up 4-0 against weak teams. They faltered against some tough Big
12 schools. But it was supposed to be okay. You got to the winnable part of
your conference schedule and were supposed to tear it up. And what do you do?
Shit yourself in the 4th quarter and lose to Baylor? FUCKING BAYLOR!! ($1) That
loss puts the season in a tailspin. And certainly dooms you guys for another
year. FUCKING BAYLOR!!! ($1)
And KU, You are worse. You played a non-conference that the Sisters of the Poor
could have gone 4-0 against, then opened up conference play with a win (but only
against ISU). Then you fucked it up. You shit the bed against CU. And you
shit it again against KSU. In the middle of that shit sandwich? OU and Tech.
Now your game in Austin, instead of being your chance to lock down the North,
like we thought at the start of the season, just might be your 6th STRAIGH
LOSS!!!

This is another reason why I am pissed at Mizzou!!!

I found myself halfway pulling for ousucks against Nebraska because I
wanted to be right about them winning out. Now that it is over, I'm
glad they lost!

Take this as dispassionate football analysis, but A&M's
loss in Boulder wasn't as bad as you think. Ultimately,
the Ags lost due to a poor 3rd quarter on offense that
exposed A&M's lack of depth on defense. By the 4th, the
Aggie defense was clearly on fumes.
It was a bad loss in that we lost a game we shouldn't
have, to a team we were clearly better than, but then
again we were clearly better. We just let too many
opportunities get away.
A&M is going to crush Baylor like a bug.
