That's actually the site I hang out on. THujone lives in my
neighborhood. Great guy. Incredibly funny. He has a whole website
devoted to his MS Paints. I moved over to Shaggy after HF became
sunshine pumper central where no dissenting opinions were allowed in
2007. Shaggy was a great refuge for JAFPB haters.
This season can really only be summed up in one word...abortion. But,
it finally help shed the uterine lining of the program that was Greg
Davis.

I have no way of knowing, but I would bet based on watching the team
that the first article is at least 90% accurate. Think about this
also, how bad must it have been for Mack to have called out coaches
just a few weeks in? Mack doesn't call out anyone publicly. It must
have been terrible.
Also, if that article is accurate, it's good to see some of the guys
will back Gilbert. I think he is a good quarterback and he was
apparently in a bad situation.
Seems like I remember reading some supposedly insider stuff about
Madden a few years ago and about how it was way too lax in the weight
room that was a lot more damning than this article was. Any idea why
Mack keeps him around? I hear he is on the chopping block but he
always seems to survive.
That MS Paint stuff was funny as hell.

That can best be chalked up to Mack being loyal to a fault and him
being such the CEO leaving things up to his subordinates that he may
have not seen how bad it got. I think Mack got just as lazy and
arrogant as the staff he just pushed out. 5 million a year tends to do
that to people. If JAFPB was tanking the offense and destorying
Gilbert why wouldn't you get his ass out of there earlier? I truly
think they might have ruined Gilbert. I hope the next OC will be
allowed to have an honest and open QB competition.
I think Mack has got to stop allowing the seniority of players be a
reason to keep them out on the field, Britt Mitchell should have been
a backup, not a starter. He was flat out terrible. The penalty
machines of Hix and Huey should have sat when they were costing us
drives. I don't care what we had backing them up. The effort shown by
the OL was downright disgraceful. Again, entitlement.
There is a interesting school of thought that maybe Mack is the
conservative one and not JAFPB. I am starting to come around to this
way of thinking. I think Colt going down in that title game screw up
Mack's psyche and the after effects were felt in the terribly awful
offense we had this year.
This program needs new blood and new direction. I like Major but I
really hope we get an outsider like Harsin. Holgerson from oSu is a no
go. Florida is supposed to snatch him up. Wiscy's OC seems to be more
in the vein of the running style Mack and Muschamp wants and could try
for if Malcolm Brown is as good as advertised. I'm just glad we are
getting a decent runner. We are seeing the effects of not recruiting
guys like Cyrus Gray and Christine Michael.

Here's the list the Chronicle has published. I can't see Malzahn
leaving Auburn. Besides he's benefiting from a VY moment. And Morris?
After 1 year? I don't see it. Off this list, it's either Major or
Harsin. The others are non-starters.
WHO'S NEXT?
Texas already has begun looking for replacements for offensive
coordinator Greg Davis, although a UT official said an announcement on
a new hire likely won't come until next month. Candidates Mack Brown
might consider:
€ Major Applewhite, Texas running backs coach: The former Longhorns
quarterback is beloved by fans and previously has called plays at
Alabama and Rice. But UT has a big budget and might look outside to
make a corresponding splash.
€ Dana Holgorsen, Oklahoma State offensive coordinator: After stops at
Texas Tech and Houston, he became the hottest offensive commodity in
the nation in his first season with the Cowboys. But he might hold out
for a gig as a head coach.
€ Gus Malzahn, Auburn offensive coordinator: In his second year after
arriving from Arkansas, he is the man who unleashed likely Heisman
Trophy winner Cam Newton on college football.
€ Bryan Harsin, Boise State offensive coordinator: For nine years,
Harsin has been the architect of one of the game's most innovative and
successful attacks.
€ Chad Morris, Tulsa offensive coordinator: He coached Longhorns
quarterback Garrett Gilbert in high school and had a solid season in
Tulsa.
€ Mike Leach, former Texas Tech coach: Likely a long shot at best, but
he is looking for a job and knows the conference. - MIKE FINGER
