we have a rivalry game this week, please read other post on rivalry
week for all info on that. In a nutshell, the Big Game this week (like all
the rivalry games) is mandatory and counts in your score whteher you pick
it or not.

OREGON at ARIZONA
ARIZONA STATE at UCLA
CALIFORNIA at STANFORD
OREGON STATE at WASHINGTON STATE

Oregon needs this in a big way to solidify their bid to Pasadena.
Arizona needs this one to have a chance at Pasadena. I think the Ducks
hang on... UO 24, UA 21.

> ARIZONA STATE at UCLA

Prediction time: the loser doesn't make it to a bowl. Erickson's seat
is just a little cooler than Neuheisal's. ASU 14, ucla 10.

> CALIFORNIA at STANFORD

Big Game (ok REALLY Big Game :) Farm wears down Bears. Stanford 35,
Cal 28.

> OREGON STATE at WASHINGTON STATE

The Oy Tour continues... OSU 45, WSU 7.

So Erickson's seat must be ice-cold, because Neuheisel's isn't even
remotely warm...

I really want to run out the clock....maybe run a few plays into the
middle, hope to get a first down. Sigh...guess I have to make some
picks.

OREGON at ARIZONA
Oregon is 6-0 at home, 2-2 on the road and the road wins were against
Washington and UCLA. Arizona is 1-3 on the road, 5-0 at home but the
only interesting home wins were against Central Michigan and Stanford
and neither was a rout of any kind. I'm going to homerk00k this one
big time and say Oregon wins it and convincingly, gulp....ok, I'll
backtrack a little...Oregon wins by enough, 38-30.

ARIZONA STATE at UCLA
whew...after the emotional distress of calling the game above, this
one calms me down. Both teams have beaten everyone you'd expect them
to beat and lost to everyone they should have, with the exception of
that Tennessee game. I'd like to call this a tie but they don't allow
that anymore, so UCLA 24-23

CALIFORNIA at STANFORD
Yikes! A big game, alright. Stanford should win. They're hot. They're
home. They're also ripe for an upset. Cal has won three road games
this year so they know how to win on the road...and this isn't that
much of a trip. Still, the Bears have given up lots of points in their
losses and Stanford knows how to score points. Ugh. With little
confidence here, Trees 41-28

OREGON STATE at WASHINGTON STATE

The Beavers keep their hopes alive by winning this. Will it snow? If
so it should keep the score down. 35-0 for Oregon State.

I can see all road teams winning this week. I'm never comfortable
picking the Duck games and ASU-UCLA is a toss-up for me. But we have
to predict these, don't we? Since I can stay in first if no one does
better, I urge everyone to copy my picks so if I'm wrong I can have
some company! ;-)

Yeah, I can see that... there's some grumbling in Westwood, but I
suppose the honeymoon will still last after Dorrell. If the bruins
don't make it to a bowl game this year, there will be some howling.

Of course, it looks like there are more people wanting to fire Pete
right now that Rick. Expectations can be a b**** sometimes :)

Btw, what happened to the hoops team? I know they lost a lot over the
last two years to the NBA, but I've been so busy watching the carnage
over here to really keep up across town :)

I've got some ideas, but in the interest of giving a guy who not too
long ago made three consecutive Final Fours a pass, I'll withhold most
of my criticisms for later.

I'll just say this: watching the Bruins play on Monday night was one
of those things that you just wish you could unsee... The horror. The
horror....

I've seen tons and tons of basketball games at every level, and the
Bruins performance on Monday may have been the worst performance by a
basketball team.... No. The worst performance by a sports team at any
level I have ever seen.

On a completely unrelated note, my New Year's resolution to completely
overstate everything is old hat by this point...

> OREGON at ARIZONA

UA - 34, UO - 27

I think the Ducks two loses, both on the road, indicate they play
differently away from the friendly confines of Autzen. UO has shown they
give up lots of points against teams with balanced offenses. With Gigsby
back the Wildcats will have even more offensive firepower than previous
weeks. Couple that with their tough D plus their home crowd and I smell
upset.

> ARIZONA STATE at UCLA

UCLA - 24, ASU - 17

Both of these teams produce offense in spurts so this one could go either
way. The Sun Devils QB injuries have hurt their late season performance.
The Bruins, despite their deficiencies on offense, have shown they know how
to play defense. Plus they have the conference's best kicker. Having
Prince back at QB helps UCLA show some life at home.

> CALIFORNIA at STANFORD

Stanford - 35, Cal - 28

Forget the Trojan Hangover. Stanford is peaking as a top contender in the
conference. With Cal RB Best out that puts more pressure in QB Riley to
produce. His play for Cal has been erratic all year and pressure from the
Trees defense with rattle him. Stanford has been racking up the points on O
and they are tough to slow down. The Farm is playing with confidence and
that alone will get them a Big Game win.

> OREGON STATE at WASHINGTON STATE

OSU - 44, WSU - 10

Don't look now, but a Beavers win here and a win in the Civil War could
result in OSU playing in the Rose Bowl. The Beavs are playing well at the
right time and you can credit their much improved passing attack. The
Cougars will struggle again this week and will suffer through trying to run
on a top rushing defensive unit. OSU has an easy tune-up prior to their
rivalry game that could be for the conference championship.

Too close to call, but I'm thinking the Cats have slightly too much
bill for the Ducks this week. Flip venues, and I think they'd paddle
the Cats.

WSU in an upset! No, not really, but they might be upset that they
have to play football again.

Zona looked great, and then they played a team with a winning record.
This week's loss will not require a bizarre play at the end of the
game.

Also, I never pick against my Bears.

My wife and 4-year old daughter are also 11/21. Makes Big Game

I bow to your insightfulness... :) Erickson's seat may be as hot as
September in Tempe if the Devils get blown out this week, though.
