So, here we are. One game left. In the season. And in the Pac-12. Damn.
We'll chat more over the holiday on how to approach next season, my
personal life took a huge turn a couple weeks ago, my attention is kind of
engaged in lawyers/estates/etc, but we will have the conversation.
But here we are, the final game of the Pac-12. Remember, this game is
mandatory, and counts in your score whether you pick it or not. So, I'd
advise doing so. Hah

FRI DEC 1 PAC-12 CHAMPIONSHIP
Oregon vs Washington

picks due 1/2 hour before kickoff, which right now looks like 4:30, 5:00
game, but you should make sure.

One other thing. In tight years like this year, I have made it OK for
folks to email me their final picks, rather than publically post, so that
we don't get any "gaming" of the scoring. So for this game, if you want
to email your picks to seanshanburnerATgmail.com , and replace the AT
with the @ sign, hah, that will be OK. I'll post them publically after
kickoff, so we all know.
Carry on. Good luck. We're all counting on you.

It's the last P12 Championship game and what a doozy!

Only 'cause of the eye test since the last time they played (and it's in Vegas, not Seattle):

Ducks 35, Dawgs 34.

... and then on to bigger (albeit colder or more Texan, depending on your school) things!

Washington doesn't always get style points, but they win. I know right now
people are hot on Orygun, and for good reason, they've been playing very
well. Really, shoulda beaten UW last time, except that last drive in
regulation was maybe their worst defense of the season - hell of a time for
that. But I feel like folks are sleeping a bit on Washington. Yeah, they
haven't been dominant per se; but they also make teams look worse than they
are. These type of teams scare me. I'm gonna take Orygun, but on the
confidence scale, maybe 55-45. Orygun jumps out fast, Washington comes
back, Orygun holds on.
Orygun 34 Washington 30

The rematch the majority of fans wanted to see. The most significant difference this time around will be - no surprise - the neutral field. Neither team will have their loud home stadium fan base that benefits them. The Ducks pass the eyeball test as the better, more balanced team. The Huskies have done just enough week after week to keep on winning. It should be close - like field goal close - and the team that makes the least number of miscues will win. The Ducks get it done in a lower scoring than expected thriller.

UO - 24, UW - 22

I would like Oregon to win. I would like to see a final score of 42-17 for the Ducks and I suppose, theoretically, it could happen. But...

I'm calling this Washington 37, Oregon 33. If I'm wrong, if UO wins, then great, I won't care if it costs me in this contest. If Washington does win then at least I'll get something out of it....feh.

I snuffed my championship hopes last Saturday when I realized that I had forgotten to do my picks, but since it's the last dying breath of the Pac-12, so here goes.

Oregon 38 Washington 31

This game would be more fun if they had played it in the expected rain in Eugene or Seattle.

As an aside, I've been spending this week in Tuscaloosa, AL on the Bama campus. With the Crimson Tide playing in the SEC championship game in 2 days, you'd expect a lot of excitement, but I've been shocked at how quiet it's been. It's not what I was expecting at all. So, don't give me any crap about weak west coast fans.

While I would like Washington to win (and go undefeated and represent the Pac-12 in the playoffs), I think they're going to lose to Oregon.

My prediction for quite possibly the last Pac-12 Championship Game of all time (though I still have hope that WSU & OSU can save and reconstruct the league) is as follows:

Oregon 38, Washington 28.

My level of confidence on this pick is low. However I suspect many are picking Oregon. They do have the 'look' since they lost to us. If for whatever reason the game is real close with under 5 minutes to go. I like my Huskies then.
