An outstanding kicking specialist who was rated one of the top prep
kickers in the country. Will be given te chance to place kick and punt
at State. Kicking talents helped Suwanee High to a 21-5 record and
two state 3-A titles during two year varsity career under Coach
Mike Pittman who has won 4 staight 3-A titles. Booted a 52-yard
field goal as a senior, and laced one 56-yards as a junior. Earned
all-state honors. Member of the National Honor Society and
Fellowship of Christian Athletes. A member of the school's Brain
Bowl Academic Tournament Team that captured the state
championship. An excellent student who plans to major in industrial
engineering. Born on April 3, 1973.

Damien Covington
Linebacker

Overbrook High, Berlin, NJ
A highly regarded athlete who could play as a linebacker or fullback.
A three year starter at both positions for Coach LArry Mauriello at
Overbrook High. As a senior averaged 18 tackles per game in leading
squad to an 8-3 record and the Group III New Jersey state
championship. As a fullback picked up 387 yards on 81 carries and
caught 8 passes for 64 passes. Named to the all-State team and
all-Delaware Valley, which covers the New Jersey and Philadelphia
area. First-team all-South Jersey LB by the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Received honorable mention all-America recognition. Chosen to play
in the New Jersey North-South All-Star Game. Excelled as a prep
wrestler being named the NJ Wrestler of the Year by the Philadelphia
Inquirer. As a senior wrestling in the 189 pounds class, won the state
title with a perfect 36-0 record with 29 pins. Named the most
outstanding wrestler at the state meet and earned prep all-America
honors. Was offered scholarships by national powers Oklahoma and
Penn State. Plans to major in criminology or environmental design.

A fine all-around athlete with outstanding receiver skills. The
brother of current Wolfpack player Charles Davenport, a senior wide
out. Played a variety of positions at Pine Forest High for Coach Gary
Weller. As a senior began the season at quarterback before
switching to running back. Rushed 153 times for 594 yards and 4
TDs. Best rushing performance of the season came when he rushed
for 241 yards on 32 carries against Douglas Byrd High. Named one of
the Top 30 players in the state by the News & Observer. One of the
Top 50 players in the Atlantic Coast Region according to Max
Emfinger. A three-time all-conference pick by the Fayetteville
Observer. As a junior caught 70 passes for 1035 yards and 7 TDs.
Selected to play in the 1991 North Carolina East-West All-Star
Game. Also played basketball and ran track. Finished 4th in the
100-meters in the State track meet as a junior. Runs a 10-5
100-meters and has been times at 4.5 in the 40-yards. President of
the student body. Is the 4th player in his family to sign a football
scholarship. Brother Kevin is a quarterback at North Carolina A&T,
and Bojack was a receiver at East Carolina. Born on August 5, 1972.

An immensely talented running back with size, speed and
determination. The Offensive Player of the Year in the metro area of
Cincinatti. Set 13 school records in his senior season. Rushed for
1193 yards and averaged 6.2 yards per carry for Coach Steve Rasso's
squad. Scored 24 TDs, including 6 in a game twice. Also caught 14
passes for 208 yards and 2 TDs. Established Greater Cincinatti
league records by rushing for 277 yards and 6 TDs in a game. Was a
unanimous first-team all-Cincinatti League selection. First-team
all-metro by the Cincinatti Inquirer. Selected to the first-team for
all-Southwest Ohio and was second-team all-Ohio. Career totals
are 2362 yards rushing, 251 yards receiving, 422 yards on kickoff
returnds, 258 on pun returns, and 17 yards passing for a total of 3310
yards. Passed up invitations to play in the Ohio North-South
All-Star Game and the City of Cincinatti East-West All-Star
Game. Also ean the 100-meters, 200-meters, and competed on the
400-meters relay for the track team. Tabbed the scholar-athlete in
Southwest Ohio. Member of the National Honor Society. Father,
Leon, played football at Toledo (1971-73). Plans to major in finance
at State. Born on November 8, 1972.

Mike Guffie

Lakeside High, Decatur, GA
A big-play receiver with outstanding size and speed. Reminds
Wolfpack coaching staff of former State standout receiver Haywood
Jeffires, now a member of the Houston Oilers. Was a first-team 3-A
all-state DB/WR by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Rated the
28th best prospect in Georgia by the Journal-Constitution. NAmed
the 50th best wide receiver prospect, and 88th best prospect in the
nation. First receiver chosen for the Florida-Georgia All-Star Game
at the Citrus Bowl. Caught 19 passes for 387 yards and 2 TDs as a
senior at Lakeside High for Coach Phil Lindsay. Made 56 tackles and
7 INTs on defense. Earned honorable mention all-America notice by
USA Today. Selected Lakeside's MVP after helping the team to a
11-1-1 record and the regional title. Was named all-Dekalb County,
all-Metro, and all-Region 6 3-A. Also returned punts, including one
for a 70-yard TD. A member of the track squad, anchoring the
400-meters and 1600-meters relay team. Also competed in the high
jump, with a personal best of 6-6. Plans to major in accounting.

Lerone Harper

Carver High, Columbus, GA
A versatile player who could play a number of positions, he is
expected to start his collegiate career as a defensive back. A
four-year starter for Coach Wallace Davis at Carver High. During his
prep career he lined up at wide receiver, quarterback, linebacker,
defensive back, and even on the defensive line. As a senior tailback
he rushed for 695 yards and 8 TDs with an average of 7 yards per
carry. Was second on the team in tackles with an average of 10 per
game at outside linebacker and defensive back. Named to the
first-team all-Bi-Cities by the Columbus Ledger-Inquirer. A
second-team 4-A all-State DB by the Atlanta
Journal-Constitution. Has been timed at 4.43 in the 40-yards. An
outstanding track star, finishing second in the state in the 300-meter
intermediate hurdles, and 9th in the 110-meter high hurdles. Oldest
brother, Steve, is working on his masters degree in mechanical
engineering at North Carolina A&T. Born on November 8, 1972.

Terry Harvey

Dacula High, Decatur, GA
One of the top prep football players in the state of Georgia last year.
He was named the Georgia Class A Player of the Year by the
Atlanta Journal-Constitution. A member of the Georgia all-state
team for three seasons. The Gwinnett Daily News Offensive Player
of the Year in 1990. Named the Defensive Player of the Year by
Gwinnett Extra. Recognized by Street & Smith's college football
annual as an all-America. Passed for 1541 yards and 10 TDs as a
senior, and had a 60 percent completion rate. Defensively, he had 117
tackles, 14 INTs, 2 fumble recoveries, and 6 caused fumbles. Was the
Journal's choice as the 27th best prospect in Georgia. During his
career he passed for 4551 yards and 45 TDs, while rushing for 2549
yards and 37 TDs (career totals: 7100 yards, and 82 TDs). Led
Coach Mike Strickland's team to a 46-7 record during his career.
Invited to compete in Florida-Georgia and the Georgia East-West
All-Star Game. Is considered one of the top prep baseball players in
the South, and is likely a top draft pick. Was a four-year letterman as
a pitcher and shortstop on the varisty squad. Fastball has been
consistently clocked in the mid-to-upper 80's, and it has reached 90
mph. Received several baseball scholarship offers. Also was the
starting point guard on the Dacula basketball team for 4 years. A
National Merit Scholar at Dacula. Member of the Fellowship of
Christian Athletes. Born on January 29, 1972.

George Hegamin

Camden High, Camden NJ
Probably the largest lineman ever to sign at NC State. A
highly-touted lineman who possesses enormous potential. As a
senior for Coach Nelson Hayspell, earned honorable mention
all-America notice by USA Today. Unanimously selected to the
Philadelphia Inquirer's all-area team. Rated nationally as the 14th
best offensive lineman, and the 19th best defensive lineman. Was
selected all-New Jersey, all-Group IV, all-South Jersey, and
all-Delaware Valley as a defensive player. Was chosen as South
Jersey's Co-Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Rated as the 8th best
prospect in the East by Tom Lemming's Prep Football Report. In just
his second year of organized football, had 45 tackles, 8 sacks, and 6
pass knockdowns. Was 6-7, 310 pounds as a junior and has been
clocked at 4.95 in the 40-yards. Attended Girad College, a private
high school as a freshman and sophomore (did not have a football
program). Plans to major in business. Born on February 14, 1973.

Chris Hennie-Roed

Lake Howell High, Oviedo, FL
The top blocker on a team that produced the USA Today National
Player of the Year. Paved the way for Marquette Smith (FSU signee)
at Lake Howell High. Helped Smith rush for 2409 yards and 31 TDs
last season. Lake Howell averaged 330 yards per game on the
ground in 1990. A first-team all-Conference and all-District
selection by the Orlando Sentinel. Named best offensive lineman in
Seminole County by Orlando Touchdown Club. Named the 29th best
offensive line recruit by Prep Football Report. Had a designed
short-yardage play by Coach Mike Biscelgia called the
Hennie-Rooskie, where he would line up at tackle, one yard of the
ball. The guard and he would pull, and Hennie-Roed would get the
ball with the guard leading the play. Selected to play in the Florida
North-South All-Star Game. Lake Howell went 19-4 during his
junior and senior seasons. Pronounced Henny-Road. An excellent
student planning to major in aerospace engineering. Born on August
22, 1973.

Allen Johnson
Defensive Back

D.H. Woodson High, Washington, DC
One of the top athletes in the Washington, DC area, he could fit into
the Wolfpack's plans at cornerback or free safety. Was a three-year
starter for Coach Bob Header playing defensive back, quarterback,
and punter. A two-time first-team all-conference defensive back
selection by the Washington Post. Named to the first-unit all-Area
squad by Super Prep Report magazine. Named by USA Today as one
of the Top 100 prospects in the Metro area. Rated the 11th best free
safety prospect in the South by Max Emfinger. As a senior free
safety recorded 65 tackles and 5 INTs. As a quarterback in an option
offense, he rushed for 493 yards and 3 TDs, including a 60-yard and a
70-yard scamper. Threw for 633 yards and 2 TDs. Selected to play in
the DC East-West All-Star Game. Runs the 40-yards in 4.29
seconds, and has a 27-inch vertical jump. Also excelled in baseball
and track. The lead-off man for the top American 100-meters relay
team. Was the state indoor and outdoor high jump champion. Played
center field on the diamond. Born on September 10, 1971.

Robby Johnson
Offensive / Defensive Line

Hickory High, Hickory, NC
An in-state signee who should become a big contributor along the
line for the Wolfpack. An all-Northwestern 4-A Conference
selection at tight end for Coach Larry Whittenburg at Hickory High.
Will most likely move to either the offensive interior or defensive
front. Caught 11 passes for 300 yards and 2 TDs as a senior. Helped
Hickory to a 9-3 record and to the second round of the state 4-A
playoffs. Has added 6 inches and 80 pounds since his sophomore
season. Participated in track, basketball, and baseball at Hickory
High. Member of the National Honor Society. Plans to major in
business management. Born on March 30, 1973.

Steve Keim
Offensive Line
6-3, 260
Red Land High, Red Land, PA
Comes to State rated as one of the Top 20 prep prospects in PA.
Played both offensive and defensive line for Coach Jim Page at Red
Land High. Earned all-state recognition form the Harrisonburg
Patriot. A two-time first-team all-Mid-Penn Conference selection
on offence and defense. Led Red Land to a 8-3 record as a senior and
a share of the league title and during career Red Land had a 25-8
record and won two league titles. Played in the Harrisonburg
Thanksgiving Day All-Star Game, an annual contest between
all-star teams from each half of the 27-team Mid-Penn Conference.
Invited to play in the prestigious Big 33 All-Star Game. Plans to
major in communications. Born on September 8, 1972.

Lamont McCauley
Defensive Line
6-4, 245
Thomasville High, Thomasville, NC
An honorable mention USA Today all-America with excellent size
and potential. Received honorable mention all-state recognition from
the Greensboro News & Record. Ranked among the Top 30 players
in the state by the News & Observer. Starred at Thomasville High
under Coach Allen Brown, and in each of his four varisty seasons the
team reached the state finals, winning it in 1988. Team had a 49-8
record during his career. A two-time all-Central Carolinas
Conference selection. Played basketball for Thomasville as a junior
and senior. Also active in track and field throwing the shot put and
discus. Was the senior class president, and a member of the Future
Business Leaders of America. A member of the school's Big Brother
organization. Leaning towards a pre-law curriculum. Born on
November 30, 1972.

Ryan Milliken

Jordan-Matthews High, Siler City, NC
Played linebackerm nose guard, and tight end as a senior at
Jordan-Matthews, but projects as an outside linebacker at State.
Received honorable mention all-East recognition by the News &
Observer. Averaged 9.9 tackles per game and recorded 13 sacks on
defense. Caught 5 passes for 109 yards from his tight end position.
Named to the first-team all-Central Tar Heel Conference, and was
recognized by the Sanford Herald as all-Chatham County. As a
three-year starter for Coach Phil Senter, helped lead the team to a
25-13 record. Also a three-year starter for the basketball squad,
averaging 10.6 points and 11 rebounds per game for a 26-4
Jordan-Matthews team. Plans to major in business administration.

Nathan Podaras
Offensive / Defensive Line

Bessemer City, NC
An imposing and physical player who could play along the offensive
or defensive front for the Pack. Named one of the Top 30 players in
the state by the News & Observer. As a defensive tackle, led
Bessemer City with 41 solo tackles and 23 assists last fall.
Bessemer City went 6-4 his senior season, the school's first
winning record since 1982. Earned Southern District 7 2-A
all-conference three straight years. A starting defensive lineman on
the Gaston Observer's all-area team. Chosen to the
all-Mid-Atlantic team, and was rated the 38th best player in the
region by SuperPrep. Also participated in track and field and in
baseball at Bessemer City. Plans to major in education. Born on
March 26, 1973.

Erac Priester

St. Augustine High, St. Augustine, FL
An outstanding defensive line prospect. Picked as his district's
Defensive Player of the Year after posting 70 tackles, 46 solo hits, 4
fumbles recoveries and 2 pass knock-downs as a senior. Named
all-area, team MVP, all-St. John's County, and all-Florida Four
Star Conference, while playing for Coach Charlie Lopez. A two-time
first-team all-county pick by the St. Augustine Record. Twice named
to the conference's all-academic/athletic team. Won a National
English Merit Award his senior year. Member of the National Honor
Society. Was listed in Who's Who Among American High School
Students. Listed on the St. Augustine's scholastic honor roll in each
of his four years of high school. Played baseball as a first baseman,
and center on the basketball team. An outstanding student who plans
to study industrial engineering. Born on May 28, 1973.

Carlos Pruitt

Greer High, Greer, SC
A highly-touted linebacker prospect from South Carolina with
SuperPrep all-America credentials. A unanimous first-team
all-State selection by The State. Made 62 solo tackles with 59
assists as a senior linebacker for Coach Stuart Holcombe at Greer
High. Also contributed 4 TFLs, 5 sacks, and 3 fumble recoveries. A
two-time all-Peach Blossom Conference and all-Greenville County
player. Recorded 10 tackles for the South Carolina Shrine Bowl team.
Was named to the all-Mid-Atlantic Region by Prep Football Report.
Rated as one of the Top 40 prep linebackers in the country. Bench
presses close to 400 pounds, and runs a 4.59 40-yards. Competed in
the 100-meters and the 200-meters and threw the shot put for the
track team as a sophomore and junior. Cousin of former Clemson and
Buffalo Bill great Jerry Butler. Active in the Air Force ROTC. Plans to
major in international business or engineering at State. Born on April
6, 1973.

Jonathan Redmond

Senece High, Seneca, SC
Joins his brother Kenneth in the Wolfpack's recruiting class. A
potential force along the offensive front for the Wolfpack. Earned
honorable mention all-America by USA Today. A powerful blocker in
a Mack truck body. Rated by Max Emfinger as one of the Top 10
offensive line prospects in the South. A first-team all-state 3-A
pick by The State as a senior. Selected to the all-Western 3-A
Conference team for four years and starter for Coach Tom Bass at
Seneca High for four years. Ranked among the Top 25 prospects in
South Carolina by The Charlotte Observer. Listed as one of the Top
20 offensive line prospects in the country by SuperPrep. A starting
guard in the Shrine Bowl Game. Has bench pressed over 450 pounds.
As a 64-pound four year old, played in a seven-year-old league.
Member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Plans to major in
education. Born on February 11, 1973.

Kenneth Redmond

Senece High, Seneca, SC
Joins his younger brother Jonathan in State's 1991 recruiting class. Is
13 months older than Jonathan. A four-year starter at Seneca High,
he earned first-team all-state 3-A selection by The State as a
senior. Twice selected to the all-Western 3-A Conference while
playing for Coach Tom Bass. Rated by Max Emfinger as one of the
Top 25 prospects in the South. Started at right tackle for the South
Carolina Shrine Bowl team. Started playing contact football as a
four-year-old in the seven-year-old age group on a team coached
by his father. Best bench press is 350 pounds and his best time in the
40-yards is 4.9. Involved in the Air Force ROTC. Member of the
Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Born on December 13, 1971.

Jon Rissler

Sarasota High, Sarasota, FL
An extremely strong and physical player with the size and tools to
make an outstanding linebacker. Played offensive guard and outside
linebacker for Coach Tom Whitehurst at Sarasota High. Earned
second-team all-state 5-A honors on defense after averaging 10
tackles per game to go along with 14 sacks. Also selected to the
all-area, all-district, and all-Tri County teams as a defensive
player. Recognized as the Tri County Player of the Year by the
Sarasota Herald Tribune. Ranked as the 28th best linbebacker
prospect in the entire Dixie Region by Max Emfinger. A three-time
Junior Olympic Powerlifting Champion in Florida. Set the Florida
heavyweight weightlifting record for clean and jerk as a senior with a
left of 360 pounds. Runs a 4.69 40-yards dash. Member of the
National Honor Society. Born on November 23, 1973.

A.C. Reynolds High, Asheville, NC
A potential force along the defensive front who was listed among the
Top 30 players in the state by the News & Observer. A first-team
all-MAC 4-A Conference and all-Western North Carolina
defensive tackle by the Asheville Citizen. Listed as a prep
all-America in Blue Chip Report. Started on the defensive and
offensive front for Coach Scott Conner at Reynolds. Led the 7-3 team
in tackles, averaging 8 per game. Selected to play in the annual North
Carolina East-West All-Star Game. Reynolds posted a 21-4 record
during his junior and senior seasons, and finished as the state 4-A
runners-up in 1989. Played basketball for two years, averaging 16
points and 6 rebounds as a senior. Active in the Fellowship of
Christian Athletes. Born on December 6, 1972.

Chris Tortu
Defensive Line

St. Joseph's High, Hammonton, NJ
A first-team all-state selection for Coach Paul Sacco at St. Joseph's
High. Possesses outstanding size to play along the defensive front.
Named to the all-Delaware Valley team which covers the region of
New Jersey and the Philadelphia area. Selected to the first unit of the
all-South Jersey as a defensive lineman by the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Earned all-state honors in the New Jersey Parochial School League.
Had 42 tackles and 7 sacks for a defense that gave up only 19 points
and just 980 yards in 9 games, recording 7 shutouts. Selected to play
in the New Jersey East-West All-Star Game, and the Jersey Hall of
Fame Blue-Gold game. A two-way starter as a junior on St.
Joseph's state championship team. A four-time New Jersey state
powerlifting champion. Set the state record in the dead lift by hoisting
625 pounds. Born on May 9, 1973.

James Walker
Running Back
6-2, 190
Walterboro High, Walterboro, SC
An outstanding tailback prospect with excellent speed and
acceleration. A unanimous first-team all-state selection by The
State. Helped Coach Leroy Riley's team to a 12-1 record and the
conference title as a senior. Despite missing the first four games of
the season, he compiled 1412 yards rushing and 16 TDs on 217
carrier for a 6.5 yard per carry average. Earned all-conference,
all-Low Country, and all-region recogntion. Rushed for 110 yards
and 2 TDs in the first three minutes of the second round state
playoffs before pulling a hamstring on an 83-yard TD run, which
sidelined him (Walterboro lost 20-17). Selected to the SC Shrine
Bowl team, but missed the game because of hamstring injury. Listed
as one of the Top 25 players in South Carolina by the Charlotte
Observer. As a junior ran for 1350 yards on 110 carries and scored 23
TDs. Runs a 4.35 40-yards dash. Finished third in the state in
100-meters as a junior. Competed at the Junior Olympics in Spokane
(WA) in the 100-meters and finished 8th in the nation, earning
all-America honors. Plans to major in engineering. Born on October
10, 1973.
