the spring game (March 4). Rated the No. 19 defensive back in the
country by SuperPrep, and also called an All-America. Called a
dragster who can jump, mixing sprinter speed with a 40-inch vertical.
Named Empire League DB of the Year after intercepting 4 passes for
Coach Rick Jones at El Dorado High School. Loves to play
man-to-man and never allowed a touchdown in his three years as a
Hawks starter. Picked NCSU over Miami (FL), FSU, Colorado, and
Washington. Invited to play in the California North County vs. South
County Classis and the Cal/Tex Shrine Game. Named is pronounced
BAD-ee. Born on December 7, 1976.

A superb athlete who could paly a number of positions, but he will
begin his Wolfpack career as a quarterback. Durham Herald=Sun area
Player of the Year. Honorable mention all-state by the Associated
Press. Named Back of the Year in the Pac-6 Conference. Rated the
No. 14 prospect in the state by the Durham Morning Herald. Rated
the No. 20 prospect in the state by SuperPrep. In his first year at
quarterback for Coach John L. Harris, he completed 196 of 380 passes
for 2979 yards and 23 TDs, while throwing only 6 INTs from a
run-and-shoot offense. Also ran for 554 yards and scored 3 TDs and
played in the defensive secondary. Led Roxboro to a 10-3 record, and
a berth in the state 4-A playoffs. Started at wide receiver as a junior,
catching 4 TD passes, but actually played more defense, intercepting
8 passes. Starting Person point guard for 2 years, averaging
double-figures. Picked the Pack over Tennessee, Georgia, and
Maryland. Born on December 2, 1976.
Shelton Benjamin

A two-time state wrestling champion, Shelton has the potential to be
the next great two-sport star at NC State. Coming out of high school
he was ranked as the No. 10 player in the state by SuperPrep. Started
for 3 years for Coach Tommy Brown, gaining over 2000 yards rushing
in his career. Also played linebacker and defensive end. The state
wrestling champ as a junior and as a senior. Ran track at Wilkinson,
finishing second in the state at 100-meters. Chose to attend Lassen
Junior College in Susanville, CA for one year. Did not play football at
Lassen, which fielded no team, but did excel on the wrestling mat.
Placed third in the National Junior College Wrestling Championship
enroute to a 34-4 overall record. Has accepted a wrestling
scholarship at State, and will walk-on to the football program. Chose
the Pack over Arizona State, Missouri, and Michigan State. Born on

Named as one of the Top 25 prospects in Virginia by SuperPrep, the
Charlottesville Daily Times, the Lynchburg News & Advance, and the
Roanoke Times & World Report. Rated as the No. 57 prospect in the
Mid-Atlantic Coast region by Prep Football Report. One of the Top
30 players in Virginia by Richmond Times Dispatch. Moved to the
offensive tackle as a senior after playing center for the previous three
seasons. Played varsity basketball for four years, starting three.
National Honor Society member. Picked the Pack over Wake Forest,
Florida, and Virginia. Born on December 30, 1976.

Grew up in the heart of the SEC country in Tuscaloosa (AL) before
moving to Florida at age 15. Led his high school in tackles as a senior
finishing with a three-year total of 347 stops and was named St.
John's County Defensive Player of the Year as a senior. Honored as
the Jacksonville Florida Times Union 4-A Player of the Year, and a
member of the Super 24, the top prospects in Northern Florida, and
Southern Georgia. A two-time 4-A all-state linebacker. Registered
126 tackles as a senior, more than half of which were solo. Paced his
high school to a 26-8 record during his career. Picked the Pack over
Purdue, Vanderbilt, and Louisville. Born on April 29, 1977

A receiver who will remind the Wolfpack fans of Eddie Goines.
Elusive, and not afraid to catch the ball in traffic. Ranked the No. 4
wide receiver in the ACC region, and an all-America by Bluechip
Illustrated. Was the No. 19 prospect in the state by SuperPrep. Rated
the No.21 prospect in the state by the Durham Morning Herald. Rated
as a Top 100 prospect in the Mid-Atlantic Coast region by Prep
Football Report. Teamed with fellow NC State signee Tim Ramseur
to lead Shelby to a 15-0 record and the state 4-A championship.
Caught 49 passes for a school record 1003 yards as a senior.
Honorable mention Associated Press all-state member. Best game
was a five catch, 125-yards, 2 TD performance against Ashbrook.
Finished his varisty career with school record marks of 116 catches
for 2005 yards. Selected to play in the NC East-West All-Star
Game. Born on May 8, 1977.

A big strong linebacker with the speed to search down the ball
carriers. Led Hargrave in tackles last season with 76 stops, and also
had 1 sack and 2 fumble recoveries. Played his prep ball at Windsor
High, and started at fullback for 3 seasons, and as linebacker as a
senior. Selected as Virginia's Class A Player of the Year as a junior.
Lost a year of schooling through credit transfer mixup when his family
moved from New Jersey, and so did not play football as a senior.
Gained 3400 yards in two and a half years as a fullback, scoring over
50 touchdowns. Had 125 tackles for a 9-3 Windsor team as a junior.

senior made 6 of 10 field goals for a 13-1 Dalton team with a long of
49 yards. Also averaged 42 yards per punt and put 75 percent of his
kickoffs into the end zone. Earned all-area accolades at nose guard
with just over a 100 tackles. Connected on 44 consecutive PATs
during his junior and senior seasons. Selected first team 3-A
all-state honors from the Atlanta Journal Constitution. Earned
all-American honors from Max Emfinger. Named as one of the Top 50
prospects in Georgia by the Atlanta Journal Constitution. Selected to
play in the prestigious Florida-Georgia All-Star Game. Picked the
Wolfpack over Georgia, Florida, and Mississippi State.

from the same school as former Wolfpack All-America Jesse
Campbell. Born on December 5, 1976.

Sewanhaka High, Long Island, NY
Lloyd has the explosive speed and hitting ability that has become a
trademark of Wolfpack DBs. As a two-way performer (tailback,
quarterback, and defensive back) he earned all-county honors after
rushing for 1080 yards, and intercepting 5 passes. Scored 15 TDs on
just 105 carris on Coach Tom Garner's option offense. Was runner-up
in the Nassau County Player of the Year award. First-team
all-Nassau County selection, and second-team all-Long Island
according to the New York Daily News. Selected MVP of the Long
Island Outstanding Senior Game after rushing for over 100 yards. Ran
the 100m, 200m, 400m, and 4 x 100m relay at the National Junior
Olympics last summer. Anchored the relay team to a national 4th
place finish. As a junior, he rushed for 802 yards, and scored 9 TDs
and added 4 more scores on 2 interception returns, a kickoff return,
and a punt return. Picked the Pack over Wisconsin and Tulane. Born
on June 21, 1977 in Jamaica and moved to the USA at age 3.

team, the state 3-A champions. Named to the Associated Press
all-state team, along with all-conference and and all-area mention.
Was selected to start in the Shrine Bowl All-Star Game. A powerful
player with a 375-pound bench press and a 435-pound squat to his
credit. Picked the Pack over Clemson, South Carolina, North Carolina,
and Georgia Tech. Born on June 28, 1977.

Eastern Guilford High, Gibsonville, NC
A big target receiver with burning speed. Potential to play
immediately is evident. Committed to the Wolfpack in 1994, and spent
last season at Hargrave Military Academy. At Hargrave he caught 21
passes for 524 yards (25.0 average) and 6 TDs. Also played the last
4 games as a safety, intercepting 5 passes and returning 2 for TDs.
High school all-America according to Prep Football Report. An
all-state wideout for Coach David Vaughn at Eastern Guilford High.
Caught 129 passes during his career, gaining 2573 yards and scoring
42 TDs. As a senior he pulled in 56 receptions for 983 yards and 17
TDs, despite missing one game with an injury. During his career he
returned 3 punts and 3 kickoff for TDs. Also a standout defensive back
where he posted 62 tackles, and 4 INTs as a senior. Named one of the
Top 25 players in the state by the Charlotte Observer. Born on June 5,
1976.

Committed to NC State in 1994, but spent the last year at Fork Union.
Four year starter in high school for Coach Bob Ingram. As a senior
played running back, defensive back, punter, and returned all kicks.
Finished his career with a state record 33 INTs. As a senior at tiny
Bethune (120 students) carried the ball 90 times for 1200 yards, and
caught 22 passes for 315 yards. On defense, Marcelle made 74
tackles, 4 INTs, and caused 5 fumbles. Named a prep all-America by
Tom Lemming's Prep Football Report. Ranked as the No. 27 prospect
in South Carolina by SuperPrep. As a junior rushed for over 1000
yards and scored 11 TDs. Earned Player of the Year Bethune
Chronicle Independent three times, and was an all-state selection as
a junior. Selected to play in the North South All-Star Game. A superb
all-around athlete, he scored over 2000 points and had 431 rebounds
for the Bethune basketball team, and finished third in the 100-meters
at the state track meet, even though Bethune did not field an
organized team. Two-time all-state hoops player, Marcelle may try
basketball at NC State. Picked the Pack over Clemson and South
Carolina. Born on December 27, 1975.

Kevin's size, speed, and skills could help him be a force as a fullback
or linebacker. Led Forest Hills to a 3-A semi-final spot, and a 10-4
record during his senior year. Rushed 100 times for 952 yards, and
scored 3 TDs. Started at linebacker for Coach John Lowery. Named an
all-America, and rated the No. 9 running back in the ACC by Bluechip
Illustrated. Ranked as a Top 25 player in the ACC area by the
Charlotte Observer and Durham Morning Herald. Named the No. 35
prospect in North Carolina by SuperPrep. A two-time all-conference
selection at Forest Hills after transferring from Monroe High prior to
his junior year. Ran track all four years in high school. Picked the Pack
over South Carolina, North Carolina, and Virginia. Born on March 7,

A defensive force for Coach Joe Tarasovitch. Named honorable
mention all-American by USA Today. Named all-East Region by
Bluechip Illustrated. Led Central with 107 tackles, including 58 solos,
helping the team to the state 4-A semi-finals. Recovered one fumble,
which he returned for a TD. Started at various times at middle
linebacker, outside linebacker, and defensive end, but spent all his
time on offense at tackle. Recruited to play outside linebacker. Earned
Associated Press all-state honors. Named all-city three years in a
row. Competed in throwing events for the track and field team,
winning district titles in the shot put and discus. Picked the Pack over
West Virginia, Maryland, and Purdue. Born on June 10, 1976.

A stout hard-hitting linebacker with good range. A Top 25 prospect in
Centrl Ohio by the Columbus Dispatch. Selected to play in the Ohio
North South All-Star Game. A four-year starter at Eastmoor, he
was the team MVP, and Defensive Player of the Year as a senior.
First-team all-Central District, and three-time all-City honoree. A
two-year captain, he earned honorable mention status on the AP
all-state team. As a senior he had 127 tackles (88 solo), caused 5
fumbles, and intercepted 3 passes from his linebacker position. Picked
the Pack over Ohio State, and Kansas. Born on January 11, 1976.

A large lineman who projects somewhere along the interior defensive
or offensive line. Caught 5 passes for 60 yards and had 60 tackles,

mention all-area. Rated among the Top 125 players in the Midwest,
according to Prep Football Report. Picked the Wolfpack over Ohio
State, Michigan State, Louisville, and Kentucky. Born on December
23, 1976.

Heavily recruited lineman who started both ways for Coach Lamar
Brown. As a senior registered 70 tackles, including 8.5 sacks, and
23.5 tackles for loss. Also forced 3 fumbles, and recovered 2 others.
Named first-team all-state on the defense by the Associated Press,
and the Tennessee Sportswriters Association. Named an honorable
mention all-America by USA Today. Named an honorable mention
all-Southeast Region by Bluechip Illustrated. Finished second in the
Class AA voting for the Gil Gideon Award, which goes to the top
lineman in each classification in the state. Named to SuperPrep's
pre-season All-Dixie Team. Picked NCSU over Tennessee, Georgia,
and Alabama. Born on September 16, 1976.

Another breakaway (4.3 speed) running back from South Carolina for
the Wolfpack. After snagging Tremayne Stephens last year, the Pack
has agained stolen away one of the top backs in South Carolina.
Rushed for 1381 yards and 14 TDs as a senior. Also caught 24 passes
for 349 yards and 3 TDs. On defense had 68 tackles and had 4 INTs
as a safety for Coach Al Lound. Unanimous all-state by the South
Carolina Coaches Association. Named an all-America, and the No.
23 running back in the nation, and the No. 4 prospect in the state by
SuperPrep. Honorable mention all-America by USA Today. Named an
all-America and the No. 7 running back in the ACC area by Bluechip
Illustrated. Named the No. 18 prospect in the Mid-Atlantic Coast
Region by Tom Lemming's Prep Football Report. Owns a state
100-meters title. Picked the Pack over Georgia, South Carolina, East
Carolina, and Wake Forest.

The Wolfpack's first verbal commitment of the class, and the most
decorated as well. Led Crest High to a 15-0 record and the state 4-A
championship with 169 tackles, 9 fumbles caused, and 2 INTs.
Selected as the state's MVP by the Greensboro News & Record, and
was an Associated Press all-state selection. Also named the
defensive MVP of the Northwest 4-A Conference (twice) and to the
Charlotte Observer All-Piedmont team. Started in the Shrine Bowl,
and was named North Carolina's defensive MVP. Named an
honorable mention all-America by USA Today. Named the No. 5
prospect in the state by the Charlotte Observer, the No. 6 prospect by
Durham Morning Herald, and the No. 10 prospect according to
SuperPrep. Named the top linebacker in the ACC region, and an
all-America according to Bluechip Illustrated. One of only 5 North
Carolina players named to the Top 100 players in the South by the
Atlanta Journal Constitution. Finished career with 390 tackles while
playing for Coach Mike Stewart. Competed on the track team for 4
years. Had a discus throw of 162-7 in 1995, the second longest in the

An explosive athlete who originally committed to the Wolfpack in
1994. Eric took an Algebra II course last fall to finish his core course
load allowing him to honor his commitment to NC State. Two-time
all-conference and all-area in football at Richlands High. Rushed for
1126 yards despite missing the first 5 games with a broken foot. One
of the state's top track and field athletes, he will compete in track and
field at State. Captured the state long jump and triple jump titles in
1993 and 1994. His distance in the long jump was No. 4 among the
nation's prepstars during his junior year. Ranked No. 1 in the nation in
the indoor long jump as a prep senior. Owns personal best of 24-6 in
the long jump and 49-9 in the triple jump. Voted the state's top track
athlete. Also an all-conference and all-area basketball player
averaging over 18 points per game. Chose the Pack over North
Carolina. Born on April 17, 1975.

A massive and potentially outstanding lineman who was rated the
No. 26 offensive tackle, and an all-America according to Prep
Football Report. Rated the No. 45 prospect in Florida according to
Florida, and one of the top 55 linemen in the country by G&W
Recruiting Service. Spent last year at Hargrave. Played in the
Florida-Georgia All-Star Game, where he twisted his knee and
pulled ligaments that hindered his play at Hargrave. Struggled all
season with injury, and played in 6 games despite having arthoscopic
surgery. As a senior in high school, he was one of the most heavily
recruited linemen in the country. Started for 2 years for Coach Bill
Holt, earning all-state honors as a senior. A high school teammate of
current Wolfpack quarterback Jose Laureano. Changed his
commitment from Michigan State to the Wolfpack during his year at
Hargrave following the resignation of Coach George Perles. Born on
December 22, 1975.

Super-sized tight end prospect who could see quick action.
Committed to the Wolfpack in 1994, and spent the last year at
Hargrave. Played primarily on defense at Hargrave where he recorded
41 tackles, 2 sacks, and a fumble recovery, despite missing 3 games
in midseason with a shoulder injury. As a prep senior he was an
Associated Press all-state honoree and a member of the North
Carolina 1993 Shrine Bowl squad. Bluechip Illustrated all-America,
and rated No. 3 TE in the Atlantic Coast Region. Member of the
Charlotte Observer's top 25 list. Caught 17 passes for 278 yards and
8 TDs as a senior for Coach Carl Brock. Also played linebacker where
he made 67 tackles, 11 for losses, and had 5 pass breakups. Picked
State over East Carolina. Born on January 11, 1976.

A highly regarded athlete with all-star ability. Hampered by injuries
his senior year, playing in only 5 games at linebacker and fullback for
Coach Leroy Riley. Still had 47 tackles and rushed for 497 yards and 6
TDs, earning all-conference honors. As a junir, totalled 144 tackles,
earning all-state, all-area, and all-conference. Listed on
SuperPrep's defensive all-America squad. Rated the second best
player in the state in SuperPrep's postseason rankings. Rated the No.
3 linebacker in the ACC region by Bluechip Illustrated. Rated the No.
8 linebacker in the country in the National Recruiting Advisor's
postseason issue. Named one of the Top 100 prospects in the South
by the Atlanta Journal Constitution. Played in the South Carolina
North-South All-Star Game. Won the South Carolina state title in
the shot put (62-7) and discus (178-0) as a sophomore, junior, and
