Patrick Ewing and the Phoenix Gorilla are perhaps long lost twin brothers? Lets
face it Ewing could have starred in Planet of the Apes. No makeup needed. That
wide nostrilled, fornicating, adulterous, monkey chaser has yet to officially
announce his retirement from hoops. Doc Rivers tried to retire Pat last season,
but that stubborn ape will play again.

Does the same troll revisit this once a year or so, or is the baton passed
from idiot to idiot?

If it's the latter, care to place a bet on how many times it gets dropped?
Narrow-minded inbreds like that don't have the greatest motor skills,
y'know.

You look very much like something that lives under a bridge. I heard
rumors that Doc Rivers also tried to get you to retire from your
irritating posting, but you keep on wanting to post. What can I say,
except both you and Ewing are stubborn.

I am a Knicks fan, and the main reason I became a Knicks fan was Patrick
Ewing. When Patrick Ewing was a young man who played basketball at Georgetown
University, he was treated as if he were less than human sometimes. So-called
Fans would hold up signs proclaiming "EWING KANT READ THIS" as they threw
bananas at him and shouted unthinkable cruelties. I personally know People who
will joke that Patrick Ewing looks like an ape. It is safe to say that a large
number of sports fans, although some would not admit it, have cracked a
"Patrick is an ape" joke. I felt sorry for him, and I rooted my heart out for
him. Shaquille O'neal, today, is sometimes called an ape. I have heard it.
While what O'neal is subjected to is minuscule compared to what Patrick Ewing
was (and is) subjected to, it is still very vicious. Extremely vicious.

I am also a libertarian, and I believe in preserving free speech at all
costs. But I really don't like assholes like this. So I am going to report him
to AOL every day until I am notified that the account is inactive. I suggest
everyone else do the same. AOL members, just go to notify AOL. Internet users,
please take the time out to send a link from tsmoo...@aol.com's post to
tos...@AOL.com and ab...@AOL.com. Thank you.

This post ( Patrick Ewing looks like the Phoenix Gorilla. ) is blatantly
racist. The Internet address, if the link fails, is
aol://5863:126/alt.sports.basketball.pro.ny-knicks:120896

This is blatant racism on the part of tsmoo...@AOL.com, and if this type of
behavior is permitted I will be canceling my subscription. AOL is supposed to
be safe for families, and I want to see proof. This member's account should be
immediately terminated.

Make sure racism is not tolerated. I am sure your complaint will be dealt with
accordingly.

I am the one who wrote the insensitive joke. My only purpose was to get a
laugh, not to rabble-rouse or even get a response.

So Ernest I apologize to you personally, and anyone else who was offended my
joke that was made in poor taste.

In conclusion, the person I really need to apologize to is Pat Ewing. Thank
you for your time and courtesy.

P.S. I only ask for your forgiveness. For those who forgive me, thank you from
the bottom of my heart. For those who don't forgive me, I understand. But I
apologized and I feel better, you would feel better too if you forgive me.

The problem is that comparing Ewing to a gorilla has been done so many
times already, that it isn't funny. Did you just recently notice
this? Please, while you are at it, DON'T make a joke about Reggie
Miller looking like a Ferengi. That also also has been overdone.

Now, if you want to come up with more "Layden looks like ____" feel
free to.

I thought it was not only tasteless but racist as well. But as a
libertarian, but more so as a supporter of the First Amendment, you should
not have asked for the muzzling of the perp.

> But I really don't like assholes like this.

That's not a good enough reason to part with the First Amendment.

As it turned out, he apologized for it, something which we would never have
received if he was muzzled.

AOL has a Terms Of Service agreement which all members must adhere to. It's
like public schools, you can't say whatever you want. If you want to go online,
you sign away your right to say swear words, to threaten, to engage in racist
activities. He knew that. So do I. I don't throw a big f-bomb in every post I
make, because I don't have the right to. Not here. (And trust me, when I write
anything about Scott Layden, a denigrating swear word is never far from my
mind.) He doesn't have the First Amendment right to free speech here. I wish a
company would come out that doesn't pander to these parents who think little
Timmy is going to start smoking, swearing and engaging in homosexual orgies if
he sees something objectionable online. I would go to that company. So anyway,
if he wants to put stuff like that out, fine. He signed away his right to. And
so, if it offends someone, he knows he could be reported. I probably shouldn't
have, especially since he apologized, but I did not "part with the first
amendment" right then as you say. I did it as soon as I became an AOL member.
If you know of a more liberal service, let me know.

I swear to god I made that one up.

I'm not concerned about AOL. The largest media company can take care of
itself. I was worried about *your* too-quick reaction to muzzle him, because
what he said upset you. The fact that he apologized and you got to hear it
should be enough to convince you that freedom of speech is better/more
productive than censorship, which would have prevented it.

To get back on topic :-) very few centers ever worked as hard as Ewing. How
many nights did he carry the team on his shoulders and painful knees!

I didn't say you couldn't pick on how Reggie looks, just don't make
the Ferengi reference :-). I am not sure I heard that one before.

Anyhow, any Knick fan should ruthlessly make fun of Reggie anyhow, due
to the history there :-).
