camby deal or dud?

I haven't followed Camby since his college days but something tells me that
if Knicks got him for an aging Oak his pro potential is limited. What's
Camby all about?

He has finished both of his first two seasons strong, after incredibly
weak starts. Some (including myself) believe he's just come to camp out
of shape. The sooner he gets into late-season form, the better. Last
season, you can't ignore the fact that he led the league in blocks/game,
nor the fact he averaged about 20ppg/9rpg for the last two months of his
rookie season.

Who knows what his expectations really should be. It's tough to picture
someone so thin developing into a 10rpg kind of player. His height and
athleticism means that he can excel in the blocks department as well as
scoring. Maybe we're looking at an 18ppg/8rpg/3bpg player in his prime.
Coming out of college, I'm not really convinced anyone knew what position
he'd be best at as a pro. It seems as if every tall, athletic player is
being converted to SF even if that's probably not where they're best
suited. Some compared his turnaround jumper to that of Patrick Ewing's.
Maybe with a little more bulk/strength, he could become an above average
center... I don't think he's got the ball handling or quickness to really
be a top SF.

Yeah... I wouldn't mind seeing Oakley win a title... as long as it's not
at the expense of beating the Knicks.
