How is it that the Washington Wizards have the rights to Jordan ? Don't the
Bulls have the rights to him ? If not, then couldn't theoretically, any team
have picked Jordan up ? Could someone like, let's say Shaq, retire after his
contract is up and then just play wherever he wants 2 years later ? I'm
confused.

"after his contract is up" means he's free to go wherever he wants.

No team has/had Jordan's rights. He's essentially a free-agent but
choosing to play for Washington.

When Jordan came back from his baseball career to the bulls every year he
signed a 1 yr contract worth like 30 mill a year or something. As each of
his contracts were one year, when he retired..he retired at the end of his
contract.

The bulls dont own Michael, because he's not under contract. They do however
have his Larry Bird rights if I'm not wrong.

Retired or not, I believe that when Jordan walked away from the Bulls he
walked away from his Bird rights also. He'll have to play 3 seasons with
Washington before he gets them back.

For the 3 seasons part : agreed.

Not sure as for the first part, as I'm not aware if a team keeps players bird rights
if they have'nt played for them for a while.

Nice post. Don't you have anything better to do ? Have anything intellectual
to say ? I think we found the idiot.
