You heard it here first, folks. That's right, Chris Webber, the
epitome of grace under pressure, faked an injury to excuse himself
from an embarrasing blowout last night in Dallas. When the series
resumes on Saturday, I guarantee he will be suited up and ready to
play. He may be wearing some kind of fake prosthetic on his knee, he
will certainly have some phony doctor report, and he might even hobble
a little when he notices the camera pointing at him, but make no
mistake about it, he is not injured.

If you don't believe me, do yourself a favor and look at the video
clip of his fall. Watch it several times at normal speed and then in
slow motion. It was such a surprisingly unconvincing performance I
cannot believe that nobody has called him on it yet. Even more amazing
is the fact that Webber has had every opportunity to master this
skill, watching his mentor Vlade Divac fake injuries and flop his way
into the hearts of Sacto fans everywhere. Surely we could have
expected a better performance.

No chance. It looked awkward and he said he felt a pop. I believe his
season is over. If he is able to play game 3, that will validate your
argument.

Likely he thinks it was a faked MRI....

It's part of a government/NBA/Stern conspiracy. Webber fakes a season
ending injury, thus ensuring another big market (Laker, of course)
championship. The government, in turn, lets Webber off the hook and
keeps him out of Jail.

It's a torn meniscus, not an ACL. The meniscus is bad enough, but an ACL
would have meant he'd be out 4 to 6 MONTHS.

Apparantly Dallas is not a team you want to face in the 2nd round. The
last 3 years, each opponent has suffered a serious injury during the 2nd
round - Derek Anderson in 2001, Peja Stojakovic in 2002, and now Chris
Webber [not to mention Derek Anderson again in the 1st round this year].
