You're crazy man, Marquez is hands down the 2nd best fighter in the
world (at least prior to Mayweather's unretirement).

The reason it's not the toughest fight out there for Floyd is that
Floyd is by far the naturally bigger man, no matter what weight
Marquez is able to blow himself up to at the weigh-in.

Please explain how Marquez is washed-up. There is nothing in his
recent career to base that on. Yes, fighters can get old overnight,
but you should back up such claims with whatever facts you're basing
them on.

Not trying to start an argument, really curious.

I also disagree that Floyd will duck Pacquiao, he came out of
retirement specifically to fight Pacquiao, it makes no sense.

Now, if you think Manny will beat Floyd, you may be right. I'm not
ready to go there yet, i need to see how Floyd does against JMM. If
he's able to dominate JMM (something Manny hasn't come close to doing
in 24 rounds against JMM) I wouldn't be so quick to take Manny in his
eventual fight against Floyd.

That said, I am up 3 grand in Pacquiao's last two fights and have only
risked a total of $750 :)

okay he isnt washed up, but he isnt in his prime either...
he will be de la hoya all over again, someone floyd can
easily run from...

styles make fights... ali easily destroyed george foreman who easily
knocked out joe frazier who whipped ali's ass...

marquez is a toe to toe guy, who fights like manny but not as fast or
strong as manny...

floyd's bitch ass is going to attempt to run like he always does but
he wont get away with it with manny... manny is a stalker that fast
enough to make mayweather pay... you can only run like that when you
arent getting hit and youre doing the hitting... that wont be the case
if he fights manny...

you obviously know some fools... but hey, i'll be willing to take some
of that if your willing to put it on mayweather if he has the balls to
fight manny this year...

He came back only for BIG fights. I don't think he's said it
specifically, but I think everyone assumes it was the main reason for
him coming back. He can't stand hearing that someone else is the best
fighter in the world. He won't dare fight Pacquiao at 140, I'm sure
he will force them up in weight like he did in the JMM negotiations as
well as against Hatton, so he can enjoy a comfortable size advantage
against Pacquiao too.

nope, just betting against the house. I don't have any friends who
are willing to be more than ten bucks on a gut shot.

It'll be intersting to see how the odds will look, after Manny's
exposive performance last night. I would've expected for Floyd to
come in as an alomst 2-1 favorite, but after last night, I would say
that if Floyd has any trouble at all in beating Marquez, that
Mayweather/Pacquiao may start off at around even money..

One thing at a time though, Floyd has to beat Marquez first.

yeah, he can also pay it off with his money though.

He has plenty to make it through the rest of his life, but rather than
change his spending habits, he'd rather keep making it rain for the
next forty years.

No doubt he's coming back for money, but he ain't gonna be able to do
it with 'safe' fights. The fact that they're using the Marquez fight
as a tune-up/barometer means that he's gonna be taking more risks this
comeback than the tail-end of his previous boxing career.

@o27g2000vbd.googlegroups.com:

this about Marquez after the fight...
this from the SI blog...
The big news earlier today was the announcement that Floyd Mayweather Jr.
will return to the ring against lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez.
I'll get into this topic more on Monday but my first impression is this:
very risky fight for Floyd. Marquez is a brilliant tactical fighter whose
power has increased as he has moved up in weight. There are so many
variables to consider but one thing is certain: Floyd shouldn't chalk this
one up as a tune-up before a potential fight with Pacquiao or Hatton in the
winter.
Pacquiao's hands are too fast for all of them...IMO and now he is hitting
from different angles(Like the early Tyson but not as far out as Mike's)
Hatton never saw that punch coming...Pacquiao could have knocked him out
with a feather bao...unfotunately for him Manny's hands are more than solid
He's made me excited about boxing again...
BTW On the undercard Soto knocked his man out with an uppercut that he
never saw a coming...
Thanks for the links...i would have missed it
