Ted Kennedy has malignant brain tumour, tests show

U.S. Sen. Edward Kennedy, who was hospitalized Saturday after suffering a
seizure, has a malignant brain tumour, his doctors have confirmed.
The diagnosis is based on tests conducted on Kennedy following his
hospitalization, doctors for the Massachusetts Democrat said Tuesday.
In a press release, neurologist Dr. Lee Schwamm of Massachusetts General
Hospital, and Dr. Larry Ronan, a primary physician, said Kennedy has a
tumour in his left parietal lobe.
Kennedy's treatment will be decided after more tests but the common course
includes combinations of radiation and chemotherapy.
Reuters is also reporting Kennedy, 76, will require chemotherapy and
radiation therapy.
Doctors said Kennedy has had no further seizures, is in good spirits and is
resting comfortably.
The elder statesman of the legendary Democratic political family had been
at his compound in Hyannis, which is on Massachusetts' Cape Cod, when he
fell ill.
Kennedy was first taken to hospital in Cape Cod but was then taken to
Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
In October, Kennedy had preventive surgery at the Boston hospital to unclog
his carotid artery, which is located in the neck. Blockages in the carotid
can lead to strokes.
Kennedy had been active in the U.S. Senate last week, where he has been a
leading voice of U.S. liberalism since first being elected in 1962 in a
special election.
Earlier this winter, he endorsed the candidacy of Barack Obama, the junior
senator from Illinois, to become the Democratic party's presidential
nominee.

I think it's very sad news, no matter your politics. Ol' Teddy
championed a lot of causes for the little people of this country,
irregardless of whether or not they were conservative or liberal. He
was also a master legislator. If someone wanted to get something done,
they went to Teddy.
BTW, I wouldn't wish cancer on my worst enemy. I don't get that kind of
thinking.

neocon=me first,second,third and last...
Sure you do - you don't have a choice since everyone else does. :)
only drive about 20-30 miles a month...haven't seen an accident in years
Yeah, but when you did, there's no way the lookie-loos didn't cause to
to slow down for the wreck (at which time there's little you can do about
taking a look yourself as you stomp on the gas to make up for the lost
time). :)
I ride a motorcycle most of the time, especially in good weather. Traffic
Jams are not on my agenda. ;-)
The only accident in the last 15 years that I saw,I was forced to watch. I
was sitting a the light and a pickup truck coming downhill t-boned a car
turning right on red...the driver of the car flew out his passenger door
and was run over by his car as fast as you cold drop a quarter...by the
time the light turned green about 10 people were gathered around trying to
help so I pulled in to 7-11 but they all ready called 911...so I went
home...I stayed twenty feet back from that intersection twice a day for the
next 10 years...I'm not a lookyloo...I look away =8-/
I saw my share in my 21 years of driving from Simi to Pasadena. I
remember one I saw on the 210 - SUV/van in the number one lane doing
about 65-70 with me maybe 200 yards behind - all of a sudden, and for
no explicable reason that I could see, the SUV basically made a left
hand turn with the back wheels sliding out to the right and it just
dove right into the center roll wall and it jumped up into the air 3-4
feet in spots and came crashing back down and shaking around. One of
the craziest sites I've ever seen.
Another time coming home in the rain I was low on gas and got off the
118 at Balboa to tank up. Going up the off ramp, I had this strange
feeling like something ominous overshadowing me from the left - just a
feeling, but on the way up the ramp, I put my seatbelt on just because
of the weird feeling.
Got to the top, made a right and got over into the left lane preparing
to turn left on Balboa. A pickup just ahead of me made it to the
intersection and stopped for the light - it's pouring pretty good now
and it's pretty dark. Right to the left of the pickup is the traffic
signal sitting on a pole in the center island.
All of a sudden, from (I believe straight across the intersection, but
possibly making a left from Balboa in front of the pickup) a car comes
straight into the island just to the left of the pickup - barely
missing him, bounces up a bit when it hits the curb and then hits the
traffic light pole knocking it to the left - right into the side of the
pickup. Needless to say the pole did some damage to the pickup, but
appeared to hit behind the driver's seat on the side of the bed.
This is why I now believe there may be parallel worlds - I figure in
another one, I was the car at the intersection instead of right behind
him and I felt my parallel self on the way up the ramp causing me to
put on my belt. Parallel deja vu. :)

His tumor is in a bad spot...the operation will be a tough one...I'm sure
they will do brain mapping but it's hard spot to do a total resection...
without surgery survival time will be shorter...That's said every brain tumor
is different depending on location but when the end comes it's a slow and
agonizing death...takes about a week...if you're lucky.

(from your quote of him...I have him KFed)...

But you do not read the political stuff... =)
Ol Ted is one of the most evil and corrupt men to ever occupy the Senate.
Cancer is too good for him.
Like that girl he drowned in the river? What was her name?
I started the thread about Kennedy's brain tumor...no politics...TUMORS...I
do have some knowledge of them...
nice deflection... a real pro you are... (the bomb is yoda speak)
ahhhh and you missed the deflection... better luck next time...
since when dont you do the political stuff??? i had to stop reading you
because you were endlessly talking about voting for mcsame???
what gives???
look no farther than what he feels about mexicans...
i can...
As posted in his blog (KKKollard).
The world's laziest beggar
I was at a fast food joint the other day grabbing some breakfast, and a
beggar approached the car as I was getting ready to leave. This is not
completely out of the ordinary, but they usually start talking you up with
some sob story, and if it's creative enough I will give in and help them on
their way to that next 40 ouncer. But this (probably Mexican) woman got to
my rolled down window and...held up a note, which a quick scan suggested was
some sob story about her brother and sister. I'm tempted to say that shows
some serious cajones, but in any case she had less chance of getting money
from me than would the Boston Celtics Recovery Fund. Even though I'm not a
morning person, I had a ready answer: "Je ne parle pas anglais." I hope the
irony translated, and who says you'll never use those required foreign
language hours?
If you're going to panhandle, at least learn the freaking language!
