It's getting so all I do is scan a thread and see if the word "Iraq" or
"Bush" appears in the first paragraph and the I automatically mark it as
read. Wish I could set a rule to do that.

Sports, guys, sports!

At least I marked it OT - half the time people complaining about OT

For some reason, I think some newsreaders replace OT: with Re: I started
using OT- instead, but don't know if that cured the problem

Well it IS the offseason. Not to mention it's an easy feat to do what
your subject line says. Don't like it, don't read it.

Dave Zero

I know. I didn't come across as particularly angry, did I? It was just
an observation.

And offseason or not, I'm having plenty of good basketball (or football
if you're coming from the Cowboys group) conversations in other threads.
It's not like there's suddenly nothing to talk about because it's
offseason.

I'm not knocking discussing topics other than the Lakers. Talk about
other things. But believe me, I've gotten the "Geortge Bush is the devil
and his administration are his fiendish servants, he's going to destroy
the world even while having the IQ of a lab rat and our invasion of Iraq
isa good example of this" message - believe me, I've gotten it, in all
its shapes and forms, all its dictions and styles. It's offseason for
Presidential elections too, in case you hadn't noticed.

But tell me how copy and pasting a new article about what a fuckup the

Sorry Dave, didn't mean to sound rude. It just seems to me that you're
sounding like one of those people who wants to get rid of anything they
find offensive rather than simply ignoring it. Like one of the people
who tries to get television shows take off the air or a record banned,
instead of changing the channel or not buying that record. If you see
one of those threads, just don't read it.
Like it or not, I think the political stuff is here to stay especially
in the off season.

Dave Zero

You're missing the point.

If you point out to the newsgroup that 2+2=4 then you're helping educate
people.

If you continue to post every single day about how 2+2=4 then you're
just being redundant.

Besides neither I nor the majority of asbnll voted for him, and he still
got in, so you're kinda preaching to the choir.

That's what I do, and don't expect anything more, but I can lobby for an
idea, can't I? All I'm saying is that there are at least a billion other
subjects to post about either on or off topic other than "George Bush Su
cks". Yet that is the one topic that makes up about 50% of all OT posts.

> Like it or not, I think the political stuff is here to stay especially

I'm not against politics as a topic - I'm against repetition of the same
take about the same politician.

Let's see:

What are the odd of 2 people posting identically, sharing the same hate,

Not to mention the denials and the lack of basketball content in posts

The funny thing is that you responded to one of your own posts when

I guess. Maybe we ought to start just including the word offtopic so we

A well though work around.
But do you honestly think that a person who is too lazy to find the
proper newsgroup for his continuous whining like Jack Straw and his
likes would bother typing the entire word OFFTOPIC in the subject?
I doubt it.

Nobody is perfect.
The difference is, you post much less off topic crap, than prolific
political posters like Jack Straw/Dewey and the rest.

Years ago I switched from "OT:" to "OT -" so that OE would not strip the
prefix. OE only strips what preceeds the first colon.

OE does, (that's the one I use even though it's reviled worldwide) Lately I
think including the word might be the best solution "offtopic Bush Sucks!" -
something people can filter easily.

A loser who doesn't care whether his threads get read and replied to,
whether by the topic of the conversation or by the manner of his style will
continue to be losers. I can't fix that.

My suggestion was for the honest, decent people of the group that want to
talk about something other than the Lakers or the Cowboys and have
discussions - I don't think they would be especially bothered by typing six
more letters in their posts.

They can even stick it at the end to not detract fromthe hitting power of
the thread title - "George Bush lied to us about Iraq offtopic" and filters
would still work.

I thank you for the support and salute your decency as always, but my point
is not so much that anything not about these two sports teams is "crap",
just that you can talk about a lot of different things, but people seem hung
up on discussing the same thing over and over without any sight of an end.
There's a million topics under the sun and 999,998 aren't these two teams.

No wonder your system crashed. You use IE as a browser, too?

But I would question the sanity of any Outlook Express user. :-)

And thanks for replying "San Fran", otherwise my killfile would have kept me
from seeing this.

Does this mean that Dave Zero is really Vaxio? Maybe Sports Fan can shed
some light on that.
