Team officials declined to comment but it is expected they will ask the
league to review Bryant's actions on that play. He has been fined and
suspended in the past for dirty plays

Any person who claims they like Phil Jackson as their coach no longer
has any right to make fun of other teams, fans or coaches, who whine
or complain about any and everything under the sun.

Phil makes subtle comments about other teams taking cheap shots, or
the refs being bad, or the fans of other teams being bad.

That's Phil's m.o.

The league was changing the rules in 2001 to stop Shaq...Phil was
drowned out by Shaq on that one...=)
They do not protect his stars...
6/13/09
The NBA fined Phil Jackson (LAL) $25,000 for criticizing the refs during
Thursday's Game 4 LAL-Orl game.

5/26/09
The NBA fined Phil Jackson (LAL) $25,000 for publicly criticizing the
refs after Monday's LAL-Den game.

I remember a few fans whining about him being fined...I said he would
get his money's worth and he did.

3/15/07
The NBA fined Phil Jackson and the LA Lakers $50,000 each for Jackson's
comments that the league was on a witch hunt against Kobe Bryant.

mostly political stuff that IMO part of what he is paid to do...

Because Politicking/whining works. As long as it works for the opponent
you do not have much choice but counter. Phil does tend to lead the way
until recently when Pop and the Spurs took over. Phil is better at it
than Pop usually, not yesterday...

And the Cavs are right, take the winning whining ball out of Phil's
court here... for the next game and a potential finals...

It is too bad that kind of politicking is part of the game. But there is
politics in everything...humans. Refs too.

There was an article about BRoy last year were he was asked why he was
doing some whining when he never had before. He said something like
'yeah I hate that, that's not me at all...but it works so I had to do
it'...said he watched others do it and then get calls and he was polite
and did not, all-star did not help. He listened for awhile to see what
worked or not.....started a little whining and acting and scowling...
and sure enough started getting calls... was like suddenly "oh you mind
getting whacked over both arms and driven into the floor in the lane?
Well do not know how I missed that call, better watch for it"...

There is a fine line there for when it backfires...about 3 years ago
Kobe was whining about every call...I was at a game at the RG and live
you could really see it...he and Zach were taking turns not getting back
on D to cry about calls and no-calls at the refs while their teams
played 4 on 5. Not just a couple of times. Portland played better
without Zach than lakers did without Kobe...and you could tell he was
going to get less calls not more...

I was going to say I did not remember Phil ever asking the league to
investigate dirty plays...but Bowen comes to mind..and being Phil they
rightly starting calling his little trick. No one else complaining was
taken seriously no matter how many stars got severely sprained ankles
and he was right on that one.

> or the fans of other teams being bad.
> That's Phil's m.o.

That is not part of any game...
If he is trying to be funny he misses...

Sac the cow town and cow people...
Adelmann as Hitler crap.
Timmy when a free agent should not go to Orlando, nope he should go to
Chicago where the city has a real culture. I do not rememebr how he
described Orlando besides lacking culture...something old people.
He used to make cracks about Cleveland and their fans a decade ago...and
Detroit...
Last year asked why the lakers has such a bad record at the RG..he says
it must be because it aways rains and makes his team dreary like the
town... and all the gloomy people is depressing. (Judging by the RG
crowd? What does it take us to look cheery =)

Jackson is an ass, but he has cut down a lot of that denigration of fans
and cities the last few years, maybe Jeannie is making him be nicer...

As far as the opp. fans, that's just his observations.

Hmm, I could care less about what the fans did or didn't do at Staples.

I don't think anyone in this forum would have done so and we're the
only ones that count. I didn't hear much if any whining from players
or coaches other than that PJ didn't think the reffing was up to snuff
(I don't call that whining - I thought it was poor all night myself).
The refs were letting them play and that hurts LA who is more of a
finesse team than CLE (and it's not the POs).

Afterwards you must mean?
Likely did not say much after the game because he did not want to add a
25K fine and another 25K for the Buss's to his bad Xmas. =)

How many Ts were handed out?

PJ refused to send a replacement in the game when Odom got his butt
tossed out for the 2nd time this year.. what do you call that? I called

Actually, our rain isn't nearly as bad as people think (and yes, I
know you were joking around).

As for the game on the 8th, I fully expect the Lakers to win. But than
again, who the hell knows. With how the Blazers have been playing the
last week or so, anything is possible.

I'm actually listening to Frank Sinatras cover of "something", that I
have 'earmarked' on my lala.com account. I can't be mad now.

Either way costs them a point. Yesterday it did not matter, but pissing

A friend of mine saw it twice in the first three days of release. I saw it
last week. It's definitely something that you should see in a theater, and
not just on DVD or cable. It takes filmmaking to a completely new level like
Star Wars did.

The last movie I saw in a theater (besides a free ticket to LoTR),
was Star Trek (the one with V'ger) in a drive-in.

At the time, I was working at JPL and was quite familiar with the
Voyager spacecraft - I almost exploded when they came up over the top
of that amphitheater type structure and there was a Voyager SC sitting
there - at that moment I was feeling kinda ripped-off.

OTOH he complains a tiny fraction of what any other coach does in game,
while complaining a little more in pressers, so overall he's the least
whiny coach of the saturation media age.
