I was down at the Fonde Rec Center last week and I saw these 2 playing 1 on
1.
Now normally I would say women have no business playing sports or talking
bout it(Cheryl Miller, Lisa Malosky, etc.) and they would have no chance
competing against a male. But we are talking about Maloney here. First
play of the game Maloney drove past Cooper for a layup, only to be blocked
by Coop. From there on Coop just took that lil bitch to school 15-3. I
still think men are far superior to women when it comes to sports but
Cooper can hoop, no doubt. Even though she hooped Maloney of all people.
I know she could play in the NBA. But she's the only woman that can.. Alll
the others, stick to the kitchen and bedroom

Didn't you watch the women's championship game of the 1996 Olympics? If you
had you'd realize how stupid you are coming off. That game was one of the
best basketball games (men or women) I'd ever watched. It was by far more
entertaining than the men's championship (USA Vs Yugo). Let's face it, women
today are more coachable than men. They may not have the physical strength
and speed of men, but IMO they play with more heart, fire and team spirit
than men do. BTW, I foresee an expensive law suit in your future if you take
your attitude to work with you.

In a way i agree. if i watch nba inside stuff i watch it for nba not for
wnba. evertime they say osmething about it and its pissing me off b/c i
don't give a hoot about the wnba. they should have there own show. i think
this women movement is getting too much out of the way.....why should tehy
be calling men's game or talking about it. During the pregame should who's
that lady on NBC...she's talkin like she's runnin the joint. I say put
Costas back...he knows the whole dictionary and boy does know what to say.
I agree with there own league and all but stop trying to come here in the
nba and talk about WNBA. You can have you own league your reporters and
pregame and interviews and what ever you want but stop trying to come here
and act like a man. Women refs....why don't u women ref the WNBA. See this
thing is out of control.....

Hey, I actually like Hannah Storm. She is cool. Cheryl Miller is about a

In a recent SPORT mag. issue they did a player's poll and Matt Maloney was
quoted as saying:
Qestion: Could women play in the NBA
"Absolutely not. There are better men in high school and college than there
are women in the pros"

Actually, my Book of 'Bonics says that "Bless Da Rzeals" is a code phrase,
which identifies the person using it as a middle-class white teenager who
works at Dad's furniture shop after school and secretly dreams of ways to
come off as a "real homeboy" to those who don't know the awful truth.

Lets end this..

Matt is to shy however he is making the bucks and will continue to.

This is a player that has a good outside game yet is slow as a turtle and
just not that quality point that teams need.

So to say he lost in one on one is no big shock because he is not a shot
maker but a spot up shooter.

Enough already with this thread

Matt Maloney needs to watch what he says. In Sport magazine he was asked if he
thought there would ever be a women in the NBA. He said that he knew mens'
college and boys high school players better than the WNBA players. Matt should
be quite.

It's not like Maloney was stretching to say that. Men's college players better
than WNBA players? Probably most, if not all, of them are. High school players
better? The gap wouldn't be as big, but think of guys like Garnett coming from
HS to the pros. Yeah, I think they'd make the roster in the WNBA :)

Having said that, the fact that the level of play in the WNBA isn't up to
what you see in the NBA or the NCAA men's programs doesn't mean it's a
worthless league. If that's what you like to watch, good for you. High
school football players wouldn't have a chance of competing in the NFL, but
fans still pack the HS stadiums around the state every Friday night. Nobody
has the illusion that they are the best players in the world, and nobody cares.

I am no Baloney errr Maloney fan, but he is right, not taking anything away
from very very talented WNBA players. They may play good fundamental (and
other) basketball, but the NBA game is not a fundamental game. They (WNBA)
may even provide an entertaining basketball game to watch (at times)... I
have enjoyed SOME of them, just as I have enjoyed high school basketball.
Within like competition, it can be entertaining. More coachable or
otherwise, there are some notable physical requirements of the NBA that very
few NBA men have manage to overcome with any success (Tiny Archibald, Muggsy
Bogues, Spud Webb,...). And each of this guys had SERIOUS talent or
physical ability in at least one category (Spud at 5'8" dunked, Tiny and
Muggsy each had/have specialties too). To see a WNBA player in the NBA is
not impossible, but they have a very long way to go... And note, I am ONLY
talking about a guard spot, likely the point guard position. Can't seem
them in the paint unless the rules change (not unheard of).

As far as one-on-one goes, who cares. Baloney is a scrub by NBA
standards...ok maybe CBA too, and if Coop can be him 1-on-1... big deal...,
kudos for Cooper. Even as such (with motivations unknown), it really
doesn't mean much about the full-court game, now does it?

If Matt Maloney said that he's the one who should be talking. I know
several women that can beat Matt Maloney off the dribble. Matt barely
qualifies as an NBA player. Look at how badly he gets beat time and time
again by his counterpart.

Im not saying Matt Maloney should of said that to the media but I do have to
agree with him. Matt should keep comments like that to himself. But give me a
break! These girls no basketball fundamentals.

WHO the hell is the idiot who wrote this? like your sorry ass could ever
dream of stepping on an NBA court. There is no woman alive who can
beat Maloney or any NBA player above 6 foot tall. They are stronger,
faster and just better. There is no woman alive who could beat me and I'm
not even a pro (yet). So think about next time you say dumbass things like
Maloney losing to a woman, and try making an example of a black ball
player instead of a white player you coward.

I beg to differ. If it's only a slam dunk contest, maybe you're right, but
small players like Mugsy Bogues and "The Littlest Bull," Randy Brown, have
consistently confounded larger NBA players with their low to the ground
dribbling, speed and defense.

There are plenty of WNBA players I wouldn't dare challenge to a shooting
contest. When you say there's no woman in the world who can beat you, you're
asking to be embarrassed. Maybe Michael Jordan can say that about any man or
woman, but the average Joe who's not in the NBA, male or female, will
probably get whipped bad by a WNBA player.

Matt Maloney=short,slow,white,good 3-point shooter,bad at driving to
lane, bad at defense, knee problems.Women will have to do better than that
to make the nba.Women don't need the nba anyway they have the wnba remember,
if a man can't be in the wnba then a woman can't play in the nba.If a man
could play in the wnba and they went by skill then the wnba would not be the
wnba it would be aml (amateur mens league!)ha ha
