Gatling Child Support
OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) -- The woman who bore the twin sons of Miami Heat forward
Chris Gatling has asked a judge to force him to pay months of court-ordered
child support.
Allison Massey said she dated Gatling in 1994 while he played for the Golden
State Warriors. After she told him she was pregnant, he stopped all contact
with her, she said.
A judge in April ordered Gatling to pay $10,000 a month in child support for
the twins, who were born last year.
The child support was expected to pay for school costs for the boys and Massey
and living expenses such as the mortgage, a gardener and cleaning services,
court records show.
Gatling's lawyer, Michael Tobriner, declined comment.
The twins, Kenzie Criss and Chris Raymond Gatling Jr., were born last
September. DNA testing two months later confirmed that the children were
Gatling's, Massey said.
``This is not the way I had planned on having kids, out of wedlock,'' she
said. ``I wanted my kids to have a father. But that's not the way it
happened.''
Massey has also asked a judge to issue a default order against Gatling so that
she can place a lien on his assets.
Gatling, a 6-foot-10 power forward, was among the Warriors' top picks in the
1991 draft. He was traded to the Heat in February and is now a free agent.
