From Bskball.com

" "We've got a great nucleus that we think we see long-term value from.
Shareef's great, but we like what we've got. If they can do it for a draft
pick, of course we're interested. But there hasn't been any conversations
about that." Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban said when asked if the Mavs
would renew talks to aquirre Shareef Abdur Rahim- Yeah, draft picks...that's
a good one. Vancouver sells Reef (Olympian, possible All-Star) for a draft
pick. Someone get Mark some antibotics, he's not feeling well. "

AAARGH!

Basically, Cuban is saying the right thing here. Why screw up their
existing nucleus for a guy who, even though he has had great numbers,
has had much less success on a team arguably more talented than the
Mavs. Sure, if Vancouver is ready to dump salary and rebuild with
draft picks, the Mavs would take him, but that's not likely.

If Cuban had said that, I'd have had no problem with it. Very consistant
with his stance all year. Instead he says, "...If they can do it for a
draft pick, of course we're interested... "

It doesn't drive you nuts to hear crack-addled statements like that put
forward by your team's owner? "Oh, well if they want to send us an Olympian
type for a single Mav first rounder..." Why not throw out, "well, if the
Lakers are willing to take Shawn Bradley for Shaq, of course we're

interested. But there hasn't been any conversations about that."

Drives me NUTS!

I'm right therer with you on the Cuban Whistle Crisis, but I don't
think I have your back on this one. By phrasing it with an 'of
course', I read it as 'if they are willing to give him away, we will
take him'.

Cannot claim credit for that. Local media has been using that for a
while, not sure who started it.

You took it wrong (gee, surprise).
If you'd take it in context, it means he's not interested unless
it's an easy deal for the Mavs.

I'd be interested in him if I could do it for a draft pick.
What's so stupid about that?
I'd take Shaq for a draft pick, too. Nothing stupid about
getting someone like that for just a draft pick!

I think Craig Miller made that one up.

Yes Craig Miller did make that one up on the morning show before he went on
Christmas vacation.
