Gill won't accept trade to any team except the Lakers

Paxson might have lost one of his trade assets Sunday. Kendall Gill, who has
been part of discussions with Detroit, said he wouldn't report to the
Pistons or any other team who might trade for him, except for the Lakers.
The Chicago native plans to retire as a member of the Bulls.
''I'm not going anywhere, unless I get traded to the Lakers,'' Gill said.
''The other team would be trading for salary because Kendall Gill won't be
playing for them.
''I won't be going to Detroit. I would retire.''

In the words of a famed poster here who I don't remember, that's
just rearranging the deck chairs on the titanic. And maybe getting
a few IOUs from Dumars, cuz that deal helps the Pistons a hell
of a lot more than it helps us.
Krause drafting a lot of fat, slow power forwards in his own
image is one thing. If Paxson is going to turn this team into
the Chicago Slow White Guard Corps, I might have to rethink my
endorsement.

I think his contract expires after this season, something to the tune
of 6 million. (How in the hell did Bobby Sura ever get offered that
kind of money?) That's the only reason for it.
Ideally, that contract could then be packaged with Fizer's in a
three-way deal whereby we would take on Williamson and a good young
player like Jaric or Richardson from the Clippers. (Which is entirely
speculation on my part, lest Obbie quote me as one of his 'sources'.)
I don't see that Williamson does enough for the SF problem to justify
taking on his salary unless we get something else along with him.

this coming NBA draft. What do you all think of this guy possibly playing
in a Bulls umiform next season?

I'm getting confused. Fizer goes to Clippers, Sura goes to
Clippers, Gill goes to Detroit, Richardson comes here?
I guess I can see that. But if it's just Fizer&Gill for
Sura, that's just dumb. All three players are FAs, right?
So would that help us at all?

I don't think so either. These salaries, too, are a slippery
slope. We got rid of Rose, which frees us one year earlier,
but Davis' maximum is still a hit. I'd really not like to
take on any more inflated ones for guys whose horoscope
readings indicate they might return to their past form one day.

John Paxson needs to concentrate on making one move at a time, because he
is steady screwing up. We lost Hassel, Hoiberg, Donyell Marshall and
Lonny Baxter. Now rumor has it that he's about to trade JYD for Aaron
Mckie. I thought it was all about working out some deal to get somebody
for Marcus Fizer!

long enough to read what I wrote. I didn't say a word about
Donyell.
Calling Linton Johnson a "better player" than Trenton Hassell
is the definition of damning with faint praise. Secondly,
I'd be delighted for you to pull that thread, because I
doubt I've said more than a dozen meaningful words about
Linton Johnson's caliber as an NBA player. He seemed to me,
not unlike Trenton Hassell, Lonnie Baxter, etc, to be one of
the guys that would remain moored to the end of the bench
for awhile before drifting off to the chaotic fringe of
professional basketball. And frankly, I've seen enough of
those in the last few years to last a lifetime.
Hoiberg was on this team because he was from Iowa State.
Plain and simple. He was Dedric Willoughby with better
ball-handling ability.
What Hassell and Hoiberg are doing is more indicative of
the talent of the Timberwolves and Flip Saunders ability
to integrate role players into his rotation. Place either
of them on a crappy team and... well, we saw what happened,
didn't we?
