How does Paxson see the roster?

years, and has only gotten workse as we've added high draft picks.
Everyone wants a trade to consolidate this mess.
My question is has anyone read any articles or seen any interviews
that hint at how Paxson actually views the roster? I can't recall any.
Of course, he doesn't want to tip his hand ("our centers stink") and
piss off anyone on the roster too much. And he probably wants to give
Del Negro some time to form his own opinions.
Still, I find it hard to commit to this mediocre (at best) team
without some signal from the top about where it's heading. About the
only thing we know about this season is that Rose and Deng will get
their minutes.
If this was a trailer, I wouldn't pay to see the movie.

What's crazy (in the bad way) is that I see the roster we've got right
now as even more deficient than the one we started last year with. Of
course some of that has to do with our miscalculations last year -
Deng and Gordon and Hinrich all regressed completely against
expectation - but the fact remains that with the roster as it is,
there are not a lot of short term hopes.
The best we can hope for, I think, are the following:
* That Gordon doesn't completely flunk out, and at least keeps his
trade value.
* That Paxson actually MAKES A USEFUL TRADE OF SOME KIND.
* That Tyrus (as I believe Sashank notes in a thread above) plays like
we know he can - just, you know, a bit more often. He's still a kid
and this is actually what I'm most excited about it, even more than
Rose, if TT can just harness the talents and mature a bit, too.
* That Larry Hughes loses both of his hands in a freak accident with
the garbage disposal thing in his sink, relegating him to cheerleader
for the rest of the season. (I wonder how he looks in a skirt.)
In terms of the guard situation, well, it's still a quagmire I guess.
Paxson has to make some moves, but I imagine he'll be waiting and
praying for Gordon et al's return to form, to boost their value a
little, first.

You're right about the mis-calculations of last year, but D, G and H have to
return to some semblance of the way they were - there is no reason not to:
each (although I've not been a big fan of Hinrich since his second season)
should be better and can fill valuable rolls.

He will - if Rose is as good as people say he is, and is able to perform
early, Gordon (don't forget, basically a spot-up shooter) will have a very
good season.

Who is tradeable that will bring team-changing value? I fear only Deng and
Rose, and Paxson won't trade them. At best, an unloading of expensive
contracts (Hughes) for not much value (and I'll bet it can't get done at
all).

This is his defining year - if he doesn't do it now, he won't. Supposedly,
he has worked hard and (with Deng) gone to some "mind school" at IMG
Academies over the summer. The talent is there - let's see if the discipline
is, too. Rose can really help his game, too.

In all of the guard talk, little is said about Sefalosha - and it seems to me
that he is the best potential future at SG: Hinrich and Gordon at best are
20 minutes per game, with no speed or height, Hughes is - well, even without
an amputation, his hands are like feet.
This is going to be an imporved team: Deng and Gordon WILL be better than
last year, Rose will contribute, having Gooden (even though he is only
adequate at PF) all year will be an improvement over last year, Thomas should
be better, as should Noah and Grey. Unfortunately, the competition has
really improved (Cleveland with Williams, Philadelphia with Brand, Detroit
and Boston still up there, Washington probably better along with Toronto and
Orlando) so that the Bulls will probably wind up 9th or 10th in the
conference.

In January, when he's eligible to be traded, Gordon will be traded,
perhaps along with Gooden, to a team going nowhere with one good-but-
expensive player. Who that is I do not know. How about Charlotte for
Jason Richardson and Sean May? A starting line-up of Rose, Richardson,
Deng, Thomas, and Noah, with Hinrich, Sefolosha, Nocioni, May, and
Gray coming off the bench? Not bad.

midwest for Gooden and Gordon? Or Gordon, Noah, and filler?
