Indiana might actually join the civilized world: three races look like
they're flipping to Democrats. For all of the crap that's been written
about trends, the fact that Illinois and now Indiana (!) and Wisconsin
are going Democrat is hardly mentioned. Blagojevich has one foot in jail
and AP called the race for him almost as soon as the polls closed.

Blago looks like the new Dan Walker. Poor Judy Bar though.
Truly I believe that the Alan Keys fiasco was a play on her
part to finally discredit the downstate hardcore yahoos and
to put herself in the driver seat of a supposedly less strident
party. Her campaign makes me nostalgic for Al Salvi. Sort
of like I miss the Soviets in the Olympics.
Good to see Indiana becoming a more literate state but
I think its not insignificant to note that in light of Blagojevich's
landslide victory there aint a single sign for him anywhere out in my
neighborhood which is pretty Democratic. Practice saying
"yeah I voted for him...so what" 100 times.

It's hilarious that the Greens are going to take this as a huge boost.
Maybe it is in terms of state requirements (collecting signatures and
the like), but it's like David Duke running against an indicted guy for
gov.
In other election news, Heath Shuler, aka Ditka's Nemesis, picked up a
Democratic seat in North Carolina. If you're close enough to Chestnut
Street, you can feel the rage like earthquake tremors.

"Coach" Hastert saw the national exit polling and decided he might need
a little extra push. Typical voter supression crap. One working machine
in Democratic precincts but five for the GOP precinct voting in the
same school. They got a court order for all polling places to stay
open until 8:30 instead of the just affected sites. They used the extra
time to blow out robo calls to the entire county except Aurora which
has their own election board and closed at 7pm.
The County Clerk is a GOP flunky who lives out of county (down in
LaSalle) and whose primary assistant is an ex-con.
All that work and Denny's career is over anyways.

The person I feel bad for is Christine Cegalis, who ran against Hyde in
'04. She was elbowed out by Rahm in favor of Duckworth. My brother lives
out in DuPage and he said he got about 5 Duckworth mailers for every one
for Roskam, but about three Roskam volunteers at his door to ZERO for
Duckworth. She ran it by remote control down the stretch.
And all of her ads that I saw were targetted at women -- specifically,
white women. It's no longer a dirty little secret that the only reason
that race is remotely competitive now is because of an increase of
Hispanics in DuPage. Roskam knows: he hit hard on "illegal immigration"
and from what I can tell, the Hispanics stayed home.
