Spanier and Paterno Fired for Rape
When a Pennsylvania college coach was caught a few years ago raping a young
child on campus, Head Coach Joe Paterno was the man in charge. But instead
of reporting the rape to the police, he called the school's lawyers.
Since then, that coach has gone on to rape several more children, using the
college gym as his rape room. Last week, the younger coach was arrested for
several of those rapes - and Coach Paterno was going to be "allowed to
retire" - with full pay and benefits, and full access to all of the
college's facilities.
Today, the university announced that they changed their mind. Paterno was
not just negligent, but that he had actually given tacit approval of the
rapes - making him an actual participant. So instead of allowing Paterno to
retire, he's being fired - and so is the president of the university, Dr.
Spanier.
Likely, Spanier and Paterno didn't MEAN to be rapists. They were just
stadium sports people - and that's the only thing that's important to them.
Folks who enjoy that mass hysteria and sports frenzy (like a church revival)
often lose site of what's really important.
So when Paterno kept a rapist on the payroll, sports fans didn't see it as a
bad thing.
They just saw him as a sports "hero" and said he deserves full pay and
retirement for life.
As a post-script to this, when the sports fans found out that Paterno was
actually being fired, instead of allowed to retire, they erupted in
demonstrations of support for their coach - by turning over a news van that
was reporting this whole mess to the world.
