His 54 homers last season were the second most ever hit by a player
age 29 or older who'd previously never hit 40 or more in a season.
In 2001, Luis Gonzalez hit 57 [no joke] at age 35! Of course, this
was the height of the 'roids' era, when 57 was small taters to guys
like Bonds, Sosa, and McGwire.
