The whole Jay organization has a culture of losing. New York and Boston
have lower draft picks than Toronto yet are more successful in selecting
better players. Even at the ML level when they make a trade they get better
players than does Toronto. This proves that Boston and NY have better,
and perhaps more scouts. The Yankees have had great teams during the late
1990s and in this last decade but mainly with home-grown players such
as Rivera, Jeter, Cano, Hughes, Posada, etc. Boston has not produced as
many outstanding players from its farm system as NY but have made some very
shrewd, but still not costly ML trades.
The Blue Jays management and Canadian baseball sportscasters often blame
Toronto's plight on injuries or the fact that it is in the toughest ML
division, he American League East, but then say let's wait till next year.
Things will improve. But when one looks at the Jays' pathetic farm system he
has to say, no way. Things can only get worse. Ricciardi will sign some more
crappy free agents, like Kevin Millar, often batting cleanup with a .225
batting average, or over-the-hill losers like Frank Thomas or B.J. Ryan,
and the Jays will continue to flounder.

They seem to think it is more important to stock the team with role
players then actual talent. Players like Millar might get a looksee
from other teams, but any good team would have tossed him on waivers
months, ago rather then harbour any delusion that his right handed bat
is useful when facing left-handers.
I thought Ricciardi was a HUGE mistake 8 years ago and I think so now.
Why is this idiot still employed by the TBJ?
Because everyone above him is a bean counter, no one ever questioned
his skills a GM. They hoped he could give them a Billy Beane style
discount team
