Snider has not been treated very well by the Toronto organization,
specifically John Farrell and the G.M. In April 2011 starting
with the Jays he was placed in the 9th hitting hole in the batting lineup.
During the first month he did not get off to a blazing start
and fell into a brief slump, but one much shorter than that of Adam Lind and
Colby Rasmus, and then unceremoniously booted
down to LV. In 2012 Eric Thames, who does not have Snider's potential,
either in slugging or defence, was chosen to start in left
field for the Jays with Snider again being sent to L.V.
Now it looks as if Snider has had enough. He has been missing games
(ostensibly with a sore wrist) with LV after leading the league in slugging,
rbis and hitting average for a short time. This seems to be Snider's way of
demanding a trade from the Jays to another major league team.
The Jays management over this period has made two very bad mistakes. One was
being taken to the cleaners by Tony La Russo of the Cardinals in the trade
of excellent relief pitcher Marc Rzepczynski for weak hitting Colby
Rasmus--whom Toronto did not need. The other was in just recently signing
another surplus player, the old and washed-up Vladimir Guererro whom
Baltimore dropped while in last place last year.
