Hey sports fans.

A friend of mine is lousing his marbles. I think someone asked him a
question and Mr. Baseball can't find the answer. So here it is:

Who was the catcher behind the plate for the first ball thrown in the
opening game of the first season in '77 ?

Thanks to all.

Ms. Baseball to the rescue. Opening day `77 catcher was Rick Cerone.

Amazing how everything old is new again. In `77 manager Roy Hartsfield had a
hate on for a young catcher and did his best to bury him in the system.
Luckily for that young catcher, and millions of Blue Jay fans everywhere, he
hung on and became the best catcher the Jays have had, IMO. Hopefully Randy
Knorr will someday have a manager who shows as much faith in him as Bobby
Maddick did with Ernie Whitt.
