Feliz is the poster boy for the fact that mere stats sometimes don't have
enough granularity or resolution to really portray the value of a player to
a team, particularly with regards to 'big moments'. I have to admit I
haven't been following his Phillies career but I don't have any reason to
believe it was any different than his stint with the Giants.

His late inning clutch hits to help the Phillies get to the playoffs only
served as a springboard to a larger stage where his un-clutch suckiness
could *really* be showcased. See, he is the consumate professional: He
chooses the appropriate time and place to show off his talent!

No, Philly made the playoffs despite Feliz, not because of him. Season
stats... .249 BA, 14 HRs. He hadn't hit less than 16 HRs since 2001.
So much for his becoming a stud away from AT&T. I'm still thrilled he
wasn't re-signed, no matter how little we got out of 3B this year.

I'm certainly dead wrong on this one; I thought he'd hit 30 HRs if he goes
to Colorado or Philly. But then again, he *is* getting up there in age. I
think part of it might also be due to the fact that he's been swinging for
the fences every time, knowing that he's playing in a bandbox. Who knows?!
But hitting less HRs in Philly than in SF is certainly a surprise. He's had
a lot less ABs this year though, for good reason.
But I know all of you will be rooting for Feliz to hit like Babe Ruth in his
prime in the next week or so, right? :-)
