Huff isn't playing much. What is the outlook for him playing more - others
aren't tearing the cover off the ball, so why isn't he getting more of a
chance?

He's out medically, so why would he be getting more chances?

He's available for PH duties, but does Bochy trust him? He's
hit 4-6
times as a PH but has not started since returning. I'm fine
w/out him
playing. Should trade him if anyone will take him. Cleve is
offering
Hafner for a veteran 1B but he's only hitting .252 w/4 HR

Far as I know, he's not available. When did he become available?

After this, and with his two year history of poor hitting, I'd say
he's untradeable. They are stuck with him and his salary.

Bochy says he's gonna give Huff a start or two at first on the road trip:

Are we already forgetting... the last guy who released a high-paid
veteran got fired from his job.

Not for that though.

The last time I checked, Sabean is still employed by the Giants.

Well, Sabean is too low on the ladder to have that kind of power... nor
was he the one who made the decision on signing Zito. He was just the
puppet on those 2 moves.

That may not have been *the* reason, but rumor had it that that was the
move that broke the last straw. He made the move without even
discussing with the other owners first, and that pissed off a lot of
people, according to the KNBR folks.

So what was the main reason he got fired again?

No - what they didn't like was that he was spending the profits from the
past season on the operations instead of cashing out.

Yeah that may have been the main reason, but it was probably not a
coincidence that he was fired literally 2 days after he released
Rowand. So I think the KNBR folks were right in that the Rowand
move wasn't the main reason he was fired, but it was the move that
made the owners say "OK, that's it. We've had it with you." He
probably would've been gone either way, but that move made the
firing came sooner rather than later.

They should have fired Sabean for that ridiculous contract. Of course, if
they cared about that, they would have fired him about six ridiculous
contracts ago.

There was a period of time where a bunch of mediocre players got
$12M/yr contracts. Pierre came to mind, but there were others that I
can't recall. I think the Dodgers alone signed 2 of them. At the time
it seemed like so-so players get $12M, and top players get $18M. Some
crazy time...
