Hi, I'm a new Padres fan in large part because my 2 favorite players
(Greg Maddux and Marcus Giles) have recently become Padres. I spend
most of my newsgroup time on the Braves newsgroups. I'm dissapointed
how little conversation goes on here. When Maddux was a Cub I enjoyed
several different blogs that did a great job keeping up with the Cubs.
So far I have failed to find one for the Padres that I think much of
yet.

The best I have found is Gas Lamp Ball at: http://www.gaslampball.com/
There is also: http://padres.mostvaluablenetwork.com/ which spells
Maddux Maddox and that is about it.

I was wondering if you could point me in the right direction. I'm
looking forward to discussing this season with you.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Padre fans! :o)
One of the reasons this group is so lightly used is that not enough people
start new threads that spark interest. There are a few "regulars", but until
things heat up in spring training and the regular season, not much goes on.
A few fresh threads informing the locals about our two new acquisitions that
you're familiar with might help spark discussion here.

Another forum that does have considerably more activity than here (probably
because as a web-based forum it's more accessible to those unfamiliar with
the strange ways of Usenet) is on the website of the San Diego
Union~Tribune:

It's just an offseason thing, no cause for concern. Once April rolls around,
this is one of the best baseball groups on usenet.

Besides, I've been way too busy trolling the Patriots NG to have time to
write baseball posts.
