The Phillies passed on Feliz' 5.5 mil option. Ruben says they could still
sign him.

We saw this, and heard the same "we could still sign him," last year with
Pat Burrell, so my suspicion is that Ruben has something up his
sleeve...the Seattle connection again? This time signing Adrian Beltre.

Would Beltre be an upgrade? Would Figgins, or DeRosa, or Chipper Jones?

Their are two things that would distress me about Feliz leaving (IF he
leaves). One, he's a good gloveman who stabilized a chaotic situation
at the hot corner; remember the bad old days of Wes Helms, Abraham
Nunez, Tomas Perez, etc.? Two, Feliz has been clutch in the playoffs.
Beltre might be an upgrade, but Jones is old and the other two have
question marks (Figgins did nothing in the AL playoffs).

I share those concerns. Feliz is a treat to watch play, and he had a
better season at the plate than last year.

So far, Ruben has made good moves.

Any of the ones you mentioned (except DeRosa) would be an upgrade.

I agree that Ruben so far has been a good GM.
