As the article states, the Mets prefer to sign Jacob deGrom; but if he
decides to depart for greener pastures, the team has a plan B. This of
course comes in the form of Justin Verlander, who at age 40 won't be
asking for a lengthy contract; probably 2 years for big money. deGrom
could price himself out of New York if the team feels that the
oft-injured pitcher is asking too much. If the Mets do in fact sign
Verlander, they should insist that his beautiful bride be in the stand
for every one of his outings.
