Mets Minors Recap: Dilson Herrera Hit Three Home Runs

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (36-25) 14, Syracuse (30-33) 3 BOX SCORE

3B Dilson Herrera (.231/.333/.519): 2-3, 2 HR
LF Arismendy Alcantara (.297/.391/.452): 2-3, HR
C Colton Plaia (.208/.283/.340): 2-3, 2B
The Mets bats weren’t even close to their biggest problem on Sunday, but
they sure did not help the cause. Dilson Herrera and Arismendy Alcantara
both went yard for the Mets, but both sent solo shots when they went
yard, and accounted for all of the team’s runs. The team went 0-4 with
runners in scoring position, squandering any chance they were given by
the RailRiders. Colton Plaia, recently having got back up and over the
mendoza-line, is at .208 now on the season for his batting average.

RHP Casey Coleman (1-7, 6.17): 0.1 IP, 2 H, 5 R, 3 BB
RHP Louis Coleman (0-0, 16.20) : 1.1 IP, BB, 3 K
RHP Rene Rivera (0-0, 18.00) : IP, 2 H, 2 R, BB
Its safe to say that Casey Coleman would like to forget his start
yesterday. He didn’t record two outs, and wound up raising his ERA by
almost a whole point. Of the six Mets to pitch, only Louis Coleman and
Ryan O’Rourke would put up zeros for an inning. By the ninth, Rene
Rivera was in to pitch and he wound up doing better than or as good as
three other pitchers.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (35-25) 7, Syracuse (30-33) 5 Box Score

CF Rajai Davis (.293/.352/.425) 3-4, R
3B Ruben Tejada (.343/.423/.507) 1-3, HR
1B Dilson Herrera (.231/.333/.519) 1-2, HR, BB
Notable that Matt Kemp didn’t play in the doubleheader and the Mets are
currently playing with only four bench players.

RHP Chris Mazza (1-3, 3.86) 5 IP, 6 H, 5 ER, 3 BB, 7 K
Hartford (36-25) 3, Binghamton (32-25) 1 BOX SCORE

3B Will Toffey (.243/.389/.362) : 1-3
C Ali Sanchez (.261/.327/.324): 1-3, 2B
PH Quinn Brodey (.125/.167/.125): 1-1
The Rumble Ponies ran into a brick wall called Rico Garcia on Sunday in
Hartford, only mustering five hits and one run in the series finale.
Garcia entered the game with an ERA of 1.92, and backed it up by
shutting down the Ponies’ bats. Only Ali Sanchez recorded more than a
single, and the bats for the most part were quiet.

RHP Luc Rennie (0-0, 0.00) : 5 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 9 K
RHP Austin McGeorge (0-2, 3.98) : 0.2 IP, 3 H, 3 R, BB, K
RHP Joseph Shaw (0-1, 1.29) : 2.1 IP, H, BB, 4 K
Luc Rennie threw five no-hit innings in his Double-A debut for the Mets.
Rennie, 25, spent more of the season bouncing between being active for
St. Lucie and being inactivated and sent to Brooklyn’s roster. Nine
strikeout is a season high for Rennie, and it was his first scoreless
outing since May 20th. As for McGeorge, he has given up six runs in his
last three outings, spanning over 4.2 innings. Joseph Shaw now owns a
1.29 ERA since being assigned to Binghamton.

Lakeland (28-33) 8, St. Lucie (30-31) 2 BOX SCORE

CF Jacob Zanon (.248/.313/.372): 2-4. HR
SS Manny Rodriguez (.258/.345/.329): 1-4
LF Blake Tiberi (.283/.361/.385): 1-3, 2B
The Mets bats fell silent in a continuation of of last night’s game in
Lakeland, as they matched their run total from yesterday. Jacob Zanon
hit his third homerun of the year in the game, which counted for his
20th RBI of the year. Carlos Cortes, who hit a sacrifice-fly, recorded
his 35th RBI of the year, easily the best on the team of anyone still
active. Many Rodriguez took a good step towards breaking his slump, as
he is hitting .156 in his last 10 games.

RHP Ervin Santana (0-1, 9.00): 2 IP, 5 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 0 BB, 0 K
LHP Jaison Vilera (0-0, 2.25): 4 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 4 BB, 2 K
RHP Blake Taylor (2-2, 2.63): 2 IP, H, 2 R, ER, 4 K
Ervin Santana made his second start in the Mets organization, and this
one did not go well. Santana was bounced after two innings, and gave up
five runs and raised his ERA with the Mets up to 9.00. Santana was
piggybacked by Jaison Vilera, who continued his strong 2019 campaign.
Vailera will likely be piggybacking Santana until he can go reasonably
deep into a game.

Lakeland (29-33) 2, St. Lucie (30-32) 0 Box Score

3B Blake Tiberi (.283/.361/.385) 1-2
St. Lucie had only two hits and walked three times.

RHP Darwin Ramos (1.00) 2 IP, H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K
*Note: Both the continuation of Saturday’s game and today’s scheduled
game for the Columbia Fireflies were rained out, makeup dates TBD*

He's got 12 for the year. Given that the guy has like 88 total in his minor league career, that's fairly impressive. One must suspect he either has chosen a medical solution (i.e. drugs) or he's learning something.

Seems unlikely, if you see pictures of him. This is not a big muscular guy.
