Is *anybody* worth the money Steinbrenner is willing to throw at them? I don't
think so. If it wasn't for George, baseball wouldn't be in the mess it's in.

Save 1 life and you're a hero.
Save 230 million and you're a Starfleet officer.

Rather than rehash it here:
The Giants group already did it.
And the basicly low down is he probably won't hit 50, but 30-40 with a ton
(40ish) doubles, 80-90 walks and a ~.300 average.
Think Vlad without the high average or Giles with about 30-40 fewer walks (he
walked 135 times, most years that is a out and out leader. This year it was 50
behind Bonds). Actually Pat Burrell in center might be the best comp.
His glove is decent.
I'm not sure what the Yankees are offering, but I'd say he is a 10 million
dollar player fairly easy. Japan is something diffrent, but the monster he has
been shows some success here.

Yeah, that Soriano is so overpaid. How dare he make that kind of money.

What mess is that? The one where the Angels, Twins and As make it to the
playoffs while the Red Sox, Rangers and Dodgers don't?
No really, put down the talk radio crap and step away from the baseball
discussion.
