Got 27 out of 28 1st place votes. Miguel Cabrera got the other 1st
place vote. I wonder who voted for him?

I don't get it? I found it. The guy who voted Cabrera was Keizo
Konishi of the Kyodo News, part of the Seattle chapter. The Detroit
voters would've voted for Mauer then.

WTF are they letting Japanese writers vote? Are there not enough
qualified U.S. writers? Silly.

Maybe because the only reason the Mariners still exist is because of
Ichiro and all the Japanese fans he has attracted to the team.

Well, I don't know why, exactly, but he is a member of the Seattle
chapter of the Baseball Writers' Association of America. I guess he
covers the game for his Japanese paper. He maybe should pay a little
closer attention to teams other than the Mariners. He might want to
catch the occasional Twins and/or Tigers game. I know there was no
other game competing for his attention on the night of game 163, so
that would have been a good one.
