a friend of mine in NYC, a yankee fan, calls them that and says that
Minnesotans do too. I have never heard of them being called Twinks
locally. Twinkies?? maybe back in the 1970s

After the Twins won the World Series in 1987, second baseman Steve
Lombardozzi proclaimed, "We are the Minnesota Twins, The World
Champion Minnesota Twins. We are no longer the Twinkies."
You are correct. Fans of the Twins don't call them the Twinkies or the
Twinks.
