Why did he fade into the forgotten as the season progressed... he was not
the only one that was having a problem with the bat!

For some reason, Torre became enamored with Belliard when Belliard, as he
has done many times in the past, got on a hot streak and was driving in some
runs, which was important given Manny's fade. Belliard is always a flash
in the pan and not a long term option. O Dawg should be back, if not, there
should be plenty of takers.
