I live in the northeast USA and I am planning to trip to California in July
to see the Dodgers-Giants series. I plan to camp most of this two week trip.
Any campgrounds nearby Dodger stadium? When I say near I mean within 15
miles or so. Any info appreciated. Also, looking for tips on Dodger stadium.
Is it best to reserve for the Giant series way ahead? I was on the Dodger
website and it looks like tickets are plenty right now. Is car parking easy
at the stadium? I go to the Red Sox in Boston some and the parking is
difficult (take subway), and tickets are almost always sold out. But Fenway
is quite a bit smaller than Dodger stadium.

Angeles Crest Highway is probably the closest. The base of the mountain is
about 12 miles away but it's probably another 15 or 20 up for the nearest
trail. The base of the mountain is a direct shot to the stadium. May be
something in Santa Monica Mountains, that's across the city though.

If the crowd is over 40,000 the parking can be difficult to get out. If you
get there 75minutes early, you can park somewhere on Academy Road and walk
in.
Games usually sell out just a few days before at most, the seating capacity
is large. It wouldn't hurt to buy Giant tickets early. Promotion games have
a way of selling out early.

Try Buckhorn campground, about 30 minutes up the 2 freeway that runs
near Dodger Stadium. Beautiful campsite.

That's the biggest problem with Dodger Stadium. It's a big beautiful
ballpark with lots of parking, but it's all inside a big ravine (it used to be
called Chavez Ravine) with only a few entrances/exits. So for big games,
it can take 20 minutes or more to get in or out of the park.

It's worth it to see games there.

If you want good seats, definitely get your tickets at least a couple weeks
in advance. Otherwise you can probably still get tickets, but you'll be up
in the nosebleed deck or the outfield pavilion (where they don't sell beer).

I personally prefer field box seats or infield box seats. The third base
side is better for evening games, so the sun isn't shining in your face as
it goes down.
