I hope there is someone that can help me. My father is James
Carl Martin. He played with the Detroit Tigers Grapefruit League
in the early 50's. He met my mother in Lakeland Florida at the
training camp. They married in the summer of 1953 and divorced
a year and a half later. All I really know is that he was a
pitcher. I don't know if he went on to the major league or not.
My mother passed away a few months ago. I had been told that
my father was killed in a plane crash a few years ago, but found
out at her funeral that it wasn't true. I don't know much more
about him. I found my birth certificate with his name on it and
a picture of him. I was adopted a year later and never knew
about my real father until the time I was told he was dead. I
hope someone here knew about him and possibly where he is now,
or can at least tell me something about him. I will check often
for any responses. If you know how I could possibly find out
something about him, any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks so much! Wonnie Overby Lefiles

Seems like the Tiger organization in Detroit would have something,
somewhere about him.
