Oh well. I am very proud of how the Tigers played. Yes, a few mistakes but
overall, they hung in there, didn't give up. Porcello pitched great. I
don't get the pickoff attempt, but oh well. And Rayburn diving for that
ball, huh? But man, the energy they had. Twins deserved to win too, they
had key hits, and played great down the stretch.

Overall, good season for Detroit after last season, we have to keep that in
perspective. I see them better next year. But I have to see contracts and
all that, too early to study that.

Yes, great game! And I give the Tigers credit for playing hard and
giving it their all. Some gutsy calls in this one. Porcello pitched very
well, he should only get better next season...and that's saying something,
he was very good this season.

As a Twins fan, it was fun chasing your team in the end. I give you guys
a lot of grief, but I really do have a newfound respect for the Tigers the
last few seasons. Well, maybe not LAST season, but this one for sure.

Should be interesting. Will they bring Leyland back, or just eat the
cost of his contract for next season and bring someone new in?

Yes, they played a lot better tonight. Too little, Too late.
Mistakes, yes. Including some on the part of Leyland, who made some
questionable pitching moves (again).

Congratulations are in order to the Twins. They have played with
heart, and skill the last few weeks. After all, we blew a 7 game lead,
just a few short weeks ago. It should NEVER have come down to a
tie-breaker.

I say FIRE LEYLAND. They should never have resigned him anyway, NOT
until the end of the season, to see if they collapsed yet again. And,
yes, they did. For each of his 4 seasons here, the Tigers have
collapsed in the second half of the season, (except) last season, when
they never showed up the entire season.

I don't know. He keeps a pitcher in, cause he doesn't have anybody
else to go to. Every other manager under the Illitch regime has lost,
so does he really have anybody else to go to?

In fairness this team might not have even deserved to be in a position to
collapse. They had 2.5 good starters (Edwin was mostly terrible in the 2nd
half) and about 1 major league caliber hitter in the lineup. Most of the
season multiple positions were platooned. As much as it sucks that they blew
the 7 game lead it is almost more amazing that they ever had a 7 game lead.

Why shouldn't they bring Leyland back? He's one of the best managers
in the AL. Not his fault the players go into slumps.

I still contend that Leyland is overrated as a manager, and that he
has done a very questionable job with the talent he has on the
Tigers roster over the last few seasons.

The Tigers are pretty terrible in the second half of seasons, and
this season I watched Tigers games fairly often. I saw enough
questionable calls by Leyland to confirm what I already thought
about him. Overrated (or possibly just over-the-hill).
