You better be careful. Last time you were here spouting off about how
the Tigers were in 1st place for team ERA in the AL, they quickly
dropped down to 5th in the AL for team ERA (and 10th in the league).
And their team batting average is still a fairly dismal 14th place.
Those kinds of mediocre numbers catch up to a team quickly, and the
dreaded second half of the season is still around the corner for the
Tigers.
So, enjoy it while you can...just don't expect that 2nd best record in
the AL to last much longer. The Yankees and Angels are both better
offensive teams than the Tigers this season, and the Twins aren't that
far behind the Tigers for the ALC (American League Mediocre) division
right now. So, having the second best record in the AL right now
doesn't really amount to anything...other than being an improvement
over the Tigers season last year. ;-)

Only reason the Twins are even close to Detroit right now is because they
have played more home games (in that horrible excuse for a baseball stadium.
It'll be funny once they give that place up and the large home field
advantage that comes with it). Once they start hitting the road trips their
abysmal road record will catch up with them and they will probably fall to
4th or so. The Tigers are really good at home and about a .500 team on the
road which bodes well for their chances in a pretty weak central.

Well, that and the fact that the Tigers go in spurts for both wins
and for losses. They never seem to really gain that much ground
with the wins before they go back into a losing spurt.

We shall see. The Twins have slowly been improving their road record,
mainly because they dominate the inter-league match-ups. A lot of
the improvement lately has been due to their strong offense,
and their starting rotation starting to show signs of life again
(after a pretty lousy start this season).
Given that the Twins are traditionally a strong second half team, and
the Tigers are not, it should be interesting to see how things pan out
for the division after the break.
Personally, I am looking forward to the new stadium. I think a lot of
the home field advantage for the Twins comes from the home fan
support...so hopefully the new stadium only improves on that aspect.
