Look at the likes of Pujols, Helton, Manny, Beltran -- and the newer
'roiders, like Carlos Pena, Youklis, and Markakis -- it's obvious that
chemical enhancement is back on the rise.

MANNY won't be the only cheater caught this year.

And too bad Bonds wasn't suspended before he captured all those
"records."

"Dodgers' Ramirez Suspended 50 Games"

Manny Ramirez, the dreadlocked slugger whose rebirth with the Los
Angeles Dodgers was one of baseball's best stories of 2008 -- as well
as the first part of 2009 -- was suspended today for 50 games after
testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs.

The suspension was first reported this morning by the Los Angeles
Times on its Web site and later confirmed by Major League Baseball.

According to the Times report, the test result and the suspension are
expected to be announced later today at Dodger Stadium, where the
Dodgers -- whose 21-8 record is the best in baseball -- are scheduled
to face the Washington Nationals tonight.

A 50-game suspension, if it begins tonight, would keep Ramirez out of
the Dodgers' lineup until July 3.

Ramirez, who turns 37 later this month, becomes the latest superstar
ensnared in baseball's never-ending drug scandal, following New York
Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez, whose 2003 positive test for
steroids was revealed by Sports Illustrated's Web site in February.

Ramirez signed with the Dodgers in the offseason as a free agent for
$25 million; the suspension will cost him $7.7 million of his salary,
according to the Times.

He is hitting .348 this season, with six homers and 20 RBI, a .492 on-
base percentage and a .641 slugging percentage.

The loss of Ramirez will leave a gaping hole in the lineup for the
Dodgers, who are leading the National League West by 6 1/2 games and
last night set a major league record for consecutive home wins at the
start of a season to 13 with a 10-3 victory over the Nationals.

Don't forget the pitchers! Guys with SIX wins already, and Randy at
52 trying to win 3 more games!

I believe that steroids and use of other illegal substances have
become de rigueur now, with MLB officials just not commenting
anymore. Draws too much negative attention to a slower-than-ever
"sport" that's treading water with fans everywhere.

Scott Boras must be very proud of his All-Steroid lineup of clients.
Not all of them of course, but a large number of his clients.
