What I want to know is, how to prices at the Jake compare to those in
other major league parks? What kind of a deal are we getting in
comparison to them?Does everyone else charge $3 for a hot dog? $4 for
beer? How many people take to time to comprehend that they're paying
$96 a case for beer?
It's not any worse at the Jake as it is anywhere else. And no, I
don't think people take the time to comprehend the 96.00 case of
beer. They're
just looking at it 1 beer at a time! :)

Well, I can't find concessions prices specifically rated
quickly, but I do have the Fan Cost Index for 1998. The FCI rates
the cost of 4 average tickets, one parking pass, 2 small beers,
4 small sodas, 4 hot dogs, 2 game programs, and 2 twill caps (to
represent souvenir costs).
The Indians rank 10th in the league at $126.92. The top cost
is the Yankees ($148.56), and the lowest is Cincinnati ($89.97).
The average is $114.82. That puts the Tribe somewhat more expensive
than the average cost. However, the Indians also rank 5th in average
ticket cost ($17.35, behind NYY, BOS, ATL, and BAL). When that cost
is deducted, the Indians actually rate BELOW average. The average
cost w/o the tickets is $60.42, and the Tribe would cost $57.52.
To sum it up, the Tribe is comparably priced, and, if
anything, marginally LESS expensive than the average ML park in
terms of concessions, but at the same time, somewhat high in average
ticket price. I think this is somewhat misleading, however, because
the newer ballparks have a much larger percentage of "premium" seating
(i.e. loges and club seats), which would tend to skew the average...
