LA Times reporting that we're asking for "one or two" from the MLB
roster, and the dodgers are asking we pay a "portion" of the $15M he's
guaranteed if traded.

Someone earlier asked why no hot stove talk. We suk, can't afford
someone like Gomes for a lousy $1.5M, and are looking to dump more
salary when we should be lookning to improve a lousy team. Even
before the season begins, it's looking like it's over.

And with all of the chatter and moves basically being Yanks, Phils,
Mets, Bosox, and only a few others with a wallet, I'm quickly losing
interest at all. The fact that the Bosox will probably get Gonzalez
from San Diego on top of Lackey and Cameron, or that the twins won't
be able to keep Mauer makes rooting for anyone other than the half
dozen deep pocket teams nearly futile.

Only positive I can see is that we dodged the Juan Pierre bullet.
JP for Harang would have been they ultimate downer.

At the least, I would hope they would not piss all over themselves to
shed the $$$ and make an early deal and wait and see what the Angels
or a couple of others might have to counter.

I think the Angels are good possibility what with Lackey leaving and
Harang being from SD area.

Mauer is from Twins country and i assume he grew up a Twins fan. If he
bails on his favorite team and hometown for a bigger pot elsewhere,
well, what can you do. personally I hope he finds his way into
pinstripes before the start of 2011, with Posada sliding over to DH.
Then finally, things might actually start going the Yankees way.

Anyone see the supposed offer?

George Sherrill and a prospect for Harang and 10 million bucks.
Sherrill is a LH setup man. That had better be one hell of a prospect.

I remember seeing the name Sherrill bandied about on blog forums when
the Harang/Dodger rumour first started. I have to think that that
rumor somehow made its way into the MLB.com story. I cant conceive of
human being stupid enough to make that deal (from the Reds side).

Are they trying to corner the market on lefty relievers like Bowden used
to do on toolsy corner outfielders?

Isn't Bavasi on the reds payroll?

If they do this, then John is right that they merely want to get rid of
Harang. (or...yeah, it's gotta be some kind of prospect) Harang in
dodger stadium would be a spectacular fantasy value.

I suspect the argument is that he'd closed for the best part of
two years. And he's pitched very well in save situations.

.218 /.310/.346 with 114 Ks in 108.2

I wouldn't advocate using him as a straight closer though.
His history is death on lefties, meh vs righties.
