I saw a pcture of actor Ray Liotta in this morning's paper (USA today) with
his babe, Michelle Grace. I know this is Mark's ex. How did this come to be?
Did Ray steal her away from Mark or were they already split? Is Mark bitter
about the split; she's a pretty good looking babe. Give me the scoop. By the
way, who do suppose makes more dough, Mark or Ray Liotta?

They've been apart for some time now. A couple of years ago, Mark was
dating Janine turner of Northern Exposure fame and she attended games
quite often.
Also, Mark's wife, had/has ambitions of becoming an actress, so she
spent a lot of time in Hollywood. That may have contributed to the
break up.

Howdy,

They were already split and have been for quite some time now. As I
understand it, Michelle always liked the high life - the fame, the money,
all of it but Mark doesn't, so that's probably a big reason as to why they
split.

Michelle always liked the lime light but Gracie's always been a good, down
to earth guy. Hell, you should see where he lives! He lives in a
nondescript apartment buliding in a so-so part of town a few blocks from
Wrigley with one of his friends. Mark's just a regular guy. You can always
find him during the off season (even frequently after Cubs games) at the
bar accross from his place watching football or hockey, drinking a beer
and having a cig or two. It's especially funny to watch the guy in the
winter. Here this guy is, making $5 million+ a year, nevertheless, after a
good snowstorm, you'll see him outside digging his car out (he parks on
the STREET or in a little open lot by the KFC). Maybe you can see why
someone with Michelle's ambitions wouldn't have much patience with a
regular Joe like Mark.

Didn't he used to be good friends with Maddux? Same type
of guy.

Well, Grace would have made a better Joe Jackson than Liotta
did. He's even an actual lefty.

Mark Grace is now my favorite baseball player.

Good choice. He's really a good guy. Don't bug him though. He doesn't like
sychophants. He's the kind of guy that if you nod knowingly at him in a
bar, if no one else is around bothering him, he'll come over and buy you a
beer. He likes REAL baseball fans and not the glory hounds.

(I lived by the guy for four years. That's how I know all this stuff. I've
seen more of Gracie than anyone has a right to.)

Your comments on Grace reinforce the image he projects during interviews.
When he finally hangs up his jock, he'll be a great broadcaster. Just
think of the team he and Steve Stone would make. I hope that day is many
years and many hits in the future.
Meanwhile, I wish he would kick the tobacco habit. The only downside to
my favorite Cubbie.
